High population density is the society killer. Don't believe me just look to any major metropolis.

Also check out the Mouse Utopia experiments. Normal behaviors and societal interactions invariably decay with high population density, even if there's enough food. Parents stop caring for young, homosexuality and violence increase, members become socially withdrawn and apathetic.

Does this happen to humans as well in the face of population density?

Too bad civilization never wants to talk about this. They just want everyone to have 8 kids and get em all paying taxes or dependent on welfare.
