What is the filter applied to "Live", "New" and "Recent"?

There must be a sub-filter applied to the "New", "Live" and "Recent" filter selections. I'm curious if anyone knows which forums are selected for display.

Just to be clear, some recent posts don't show up in the New, Live or Recent filter lists. Thus, my observation is there must be some sub-filter applied to these more macro filters which only select new and recent posts from a select list. What's the qualifying criteria?

Just a friendly question here, not a complaint. Today I noticed, for example, a thread in the "automotive" forum which doesn't show up in any of the "new", "live", or "recent" lists yet there were posts just minutes old in this forum. What other ones fall into this category? I think this forum (Board Business & Questions) is another one.

The only possible feature that I can think of that would be related is the filter in your 'My ATS' page where you can pick which forums you want to see recent activity for. I only have 3 selected, but I always assumed the new and Live feature just displayed in real time the same way for everybody.

Maybe you could play with the subscribed forums feature I was talking about under the MyATS page and see if that changes anything you see?
