Article here from the mainstream media so it won't hurt some to read...

Trump picks Gov. Kristi Noem to serve as homeland security secretary

A relevant image...

Always been a big fan of hers as a female business owner.

Hope she does well and I'm excited to see what she brings to the big picture.

Her transition conversations with Mayorkas will be interesting. 😁

She should ask him who's been ordering him to direct all the Migrants and allow all the smuggling. πŸ˜„

To be honest, she's pretty badass and I too would love to see that conversation.

She's the only one I've ever seen (besides myself) that made a lawyer cry in public.

Yea, I'm a fan.

I think she'll do a good job.

Good for her!

Who said that Trump does not surround himself with smart women, this is going to be a great appointment, Mayorcas was a zero, he did nothing while in his position, nothing at all.

Most of Trump appointees are exactly what America wanted to take care of the nation and they have records to prove it.

I did not to put that in the OP to muddy those waters but yes... this was an excellent pick.

The left HATES her in SD.

Simply because she is a strong intelligent independent woman.

You know, the kind that according to the left Trump can't get along with.

Oh!

Almost forgot because I was happy about the pick what the left has for ammunition against her...

Leftist journalists say that she had an affair with a political partner of hers based on "they spent a lot of time together".

Also, they seem to be unhappy that she is changing as she gets older so she must have had a face lift.

To me, I think it looks like she had a face lift.

Not as appalling as Pelosi's, but OK...

They also for awhile called her the "Covid Queen" because she allowed her state as Governor to pick and choose if they should mask or not and didn't close down any businesses.

I think that's about it... let's see where the opposition to a female Conservative hire goes from here...

That's going to be a problem for the liberal talking point of Trump being a misogynist.

His appointees still have to be confirmed by the senate. Hopefully they won't fight him 'seven ways from Sunday' this time around.

One could only hope that a Republican majority in the Senate can approve a Trump nominee.

She doesn't have the baggage they do, I grant you that...

They fought him pretty hard the first time around but I'm pretty sure they learned the hard way it wasn't in the best interests of their lifelong political careers.

They need to get rid of all the RINO's with clout, starting with Mitch McConnell.

High Level Analysis:

Keeping in mind that Tom Homan is already assigned the one task that Governor Noem would not like to be responsible for, controlling the border and deporting illegal aliens. Both matters are of interest to the Big Ag industry back home.

So, with a streamlined responsibility portfolio, at DHS Noem would be more focused on national security matters that are not tied to border security. The types of national security issues that Noem has a tendency to frame around constitutional freedoms, liberties, and the removal of systems that directly restrict the rights of Americans. Something, shall we say, directly in her wheelhouse.

Simultaneously, this appointment opens the door for Senator John Thune to return to South Dakota and run for Governor. This possibility directly fits into the wish list of his wife Kimberly Thune, together they have grandkids now. The family dynamic caused Senator Thune to seriously contemplate retiring two-years ago.

Yeah, not getting that...

I understand the Thume thing,

But projecting that as Secretary of the DHS when she as a Governor that has sent her own National Guard down to the Texas border 8 times to make the border better won't participate in the border issue anymore?

LOL

She probably wants to solve bigger threats. Maybe firebombing drug farms in Central America...or finding the terrorists hiding the stolen shoulder-launch missiles.

I'm fine with all the other appointments so far.

This one bugs me.

She comes across as a dog killing air head.

Not a fan.

That's a valid point.

On the other hand, having a ruthless and efficient bitch running DHS makes sense.

Depends on the reasoning. If what she says is true, being a chicken killer and a possible threat to her children (which do go hand in hand sometimes, like my neighbors dog.)
Then yes, there is no hope, no reforming that dog.

I'm more appalled by the goat, on the same day. She was apparently having a bad day. But with what the goat was doing, cutting his nuts off may have been a better choice to start.

But I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, and see how she does here.

Haven't been a fan of most of his picks so far and not crazy about this either. Going to give it through the week and then see where it all stands and do a breakdown of his picks but so far....seems a bit swampy and lefty to me. Not sure if there has been one true conservative, not muddy person yet.
