records that you could just play as background noise at parties

I was at an all night party in Kansas City in 71 and the guy whose house it was had the entire house hooked up with a sound system connected to every room. The music was only one piece and played the entire night creating background reality for the entire group of people

It was this, Rainbow in Curved Air, written and performed by Terry Reilly who was the music director at Mills College in Oakland California and one of the early experimental composers in minimalist computer musics but way way better than the old Moog stuff that had a brief flash in those days.

I can see the appeal it's a bit mesmerizing....absolutely obliterates my tinnitus... it didn't feel like 18 minutes at all... the bongos are off the charts

A short tribute to one of my all-time guitar heroes, Randy Holden

The Sons of Adam, formed in 1965 as Randy bailed off of the sinking ship that was California Surf Music where his band The Fender lV reigned as the one of the great bands of the genre ranked right up there with Dick Dale -

Some Fender lV

After The Sons of Adam fizzled, he formed the legendary Blue Cheer -

In 2016 he brought it full circle and agreed to play for his hardcore surf music fans once again -

It was unforgettable

Hehehe ironically I did not know there were other versions of this song I am a Karen Carpenter superfan and I had only heard this one. The Klaatu one is really groovy too. It is a very Beatles-esque song for sure!

Shapes Of Things is often quoted the first psychedelic song recorded in 1965

However i think this was the first, also recorded in 1965 by The Kinks but 7 months earlier.

Deffinately ''time and place'' music, right time, right place, and when it is both of those time and place simply disappear.

Thanks for the postings alldaylong. Some people get a little confused about Psychedelic music.
It was a pure 67- about 69/70 period only. Blues and heavy music took off after. Previous was beat/garage music.
Heres a couple of good ones from 1968 USA. The UK and Australia were slightly different.
