Cheers nugget1.

I think he deserves some luck.

Like i said he's been passed about.

5 owners apparently, 2 in the last few days alone!

And only 9 months old.

One of the previous owner's kids ""allegedly"" chucked the little fellow off bunkbeds and painted him blue.

Future little serial killer there methinks.

The wee soul is dead-loving as well canny understand people that hurt animals.

I only have had cats since I started studying all the metabolic and enzyme activities in the body. I can test on myself, and I have found things to help cats, but I have not done any analyzing of how this stuff works on dogs or other kinds of animals.

You might wind up bringing the dog to the vets, it is probably something like an enzyme deficiency or something to do with a food intolerance. A good vet will be able to tell you which foods might help the dogs condition.

Someone here who has dogs may also know a solution to this.

They have changed the dog food chemistry so much lately, adding ingredients into them that the dogs have not been adapted to metabolize correctly. I cringe when I look at the ingredients they are adding to some of the more expensive cat foods these days, a lot of cats are having problems, and I suspect the dog food changes also cause problems.

Cats do not believe in science, so any cat food that says scientifically improved is probably not that good....I was told that by a good vet. It takes generations to properly adapt to eat a new type of food chemistry without getting side effects. Introducing it slowly into the food supply over generations makes it so the animal can properly metabolize it and properly associate enzyme creation that matches the food chemistry. Think about all the changes they are promoting in the American diet.....no wonder so many people are having problems....so are the animals

All my dogs get dry food rickymouse and do just fine.

I was told long ago by a Vet what goes into the wet food and what it amounts to later on in life.

The don't half fling some nasty stuff into products these days and America is rather notorious for doing just that.

Its a little more controlled over here but not much.

Anyhoo we will see what the vet has to say.

Cheers for the input and hopefully his hair loss is simply down to stress which trust me, he won't experience here in my house.

Could it be a hormonal issue or down to stress?

I'd put it down to stress and food deficiency's , no doubt with a little love and care he'll be a stunner.

Scrappy's a lucky dog.

Dang! If I had to deal with kids like that I think I'd be suffering from some major hair loss, too!

Please let us know how his wellness check goes.

This may sound daft but about 6 months ago my cat started losing her hair on her back legs and backside, to the point she looked like she had been skinned. It was just bone. Did all the usual searching what it could be like you're doing, and it turned out to be a hessian bag she had taken to sleeping on affecting her hair. I disposed of the bag and all her hair is back again.

Maybe Scrappy's been lying on something his skin didn't like at one of his many previous abodes, but may grow back now you have him? Or one of those little #s shaved him!

Good on you for giving him a forever home.

Update: Mrs took Scrappy to the Vet and she said he appears to be a young healthy dog aside from the fur loss.

Took some bloods and asked us to get a urine sample(that should be fun) just to be safe.

But she seems to think it could also be stress-related down to his upbringing thus far.

And he may be depressed.

Discussed possible prescribing antidepressants. LoL

Somebody wants money methinks.

Computer says ""No"".

I think he will be just fine without the doggie blues, and now he has a pal and a safe environment.

Guess time will tell.
