Donald Trump ran against a hostile media, a cutthroat incumbent Democrat party, some members of his own party among other things. How did he overcome?

1) Bad Democrat policies. voters able to see beyond the media smokescreen and Democrat spin saw a poor economy. working people struggling to pay their bills were not interested in subsidizing illegal aliens with hotels and gift cards. Real people wanted less crime, but the Democrats spent money and energy promoting green policies (outlawing gas stoves?) and pushing social issues that few of us care about.

2) bad candidates. replacing Joe with Kamala was a good idea, but in the end she was a poor candidate. paper-thin resume, and seeming unable to speak a coherent sentence. somebody said that the more she appeared in Pennsylvania, the more votes she lost. Walz looked like a real man but was just another shallow leftist with no accomplishments.

3) Trump ran a powerful campaign with an energy that belied his 78 years. at the end the left tried to suggest that he was senile and his rallies were half empty; they had nothing else to go with. Trump survived an assassination attempt (notice how the media dropped that story??) and ran on a proven track record of a successful administration. somebody pointed out, he was already President, and he didn't start WWIII and he didn't put Joy Behar (or whomever) in a concentration camp.

this is a simplification but I think presents the basic case. what are ATS' thoughts?

some of the media are suggesting an enthusiasm gap. Trumps supporters were much more motivated.

Every time I went to the grocery store, gassed my car up, opened a utility bill, paid the rising property taxes I saw what a wonderful POTUS Biden was. It remided me of the 8 blissful years under Obama, only on steroids.

Where can I catch a Soros tour bus to Portland and collect my $250.00?

Democrats sank their own boat and tried to call it a submarine, that's why Trump won.

The Left votes on feelz.

Conservatives vote on policy.

Somehow, the Left just can't seem to understand that. They don't like high prices, they don't like getting involved in foreign wars, they don't like illegals coming into their towns, but they vote for the people who caused it, because Orange Man hurt their feelings.

Because we didn't let the democrats rig it again.

We had massive numbers of observers calling out the shenanigans as they happened, and Trumps team and States had teams of lawyers to challenge and overturn their BS.

The American people's voice was heard and we do not want the authoritarian left destroying our country.

Conservatives vote on policy with a massive dose of common sense.

Liberals vote on whatever the news tells them should be the latest trend to embrace.

"Walz looked like a real man" ?

In some circles their dismal, showing is being directly blamed on selecting Walz instead of Shapiro

Why Trump won...

Trump, and R's in general this cycle, talked policies. What works, what doesn't, what's a sensible path forward for the betterment of all. Trump, and most of the rest of the GOP candidates, brought substance to the voters.

Harris and the dems brought nothing but hateful rhetoric, name calling and OMB. No path forward and no substance.

I'm probably gonna make a thread on this after more numbers come in, but....

This election will likely a show a discrepancy of at least 10 million votes from 2020.

Many intelligent folks on this site have disagreed in the past, but the 2020 election was stolen.

Once a state by state breakdown is released, pay attention to the total numbers for PA/WI/MI/ GA and Arizona. They will be significantly different than 2020.

Awkard for the Dems huh?

Did Trump win 3 elections?

There goes their "We hate Trump enough to come out in unprecedented numbers to stop him!" claim.

Unless there's 10+ million libs who were too lazy to do it twice.

+1. I meant to include that but forgot.
some of the more rational in the Republican camp suspected the cheat in 2020 and for years have been recruiting and installing poll watchers and election lawyers standing by to call foul. I really think this severely hampered the Dem's strategy.

would be interesting to compare Hillary, Biden, and Kamala numbers in the swing states these last three elections.

Yes, and the courts actually doing their jobs this time for VA, PA, TX, AZ and a few other statesin the early voting periods made the difference.

The 2020 steal came back and bit the Democrats right in their rear end. Everyone was expecting those numbers this election but it hard to re produce what isn’t there in the first place.

2020 election and J6 should be investigated as soon as Trump gets in

Republicans have been working on legal protection in this election
www.foxnews.com...

A flurry of U.S. election-related lawsuits are playing out in courts nationwide with more than 160 cases already on the books, and experts say that's just par for the course during a modern presidential contest.

At least 165 election-related lawsuits have already been filed, the majority focusing on issues such as who should be eligible to vote, how ballots are cast and counted, and how to ensure election security and protect against alleged voter fraud.

most of the media accounts complain about 'intimidation' and 'harassment'.
it looks like Kamala got FEWER votes in just about every state, than Biden.
coincidence?

it's been interesting watching the left's circular firing squad this week. Sanders blames the Democrat party for abandoning working class voters. Pelosi says not true. Kamala's people are blaming Biden for the late exit. Biden's people are blaming Kamala for running a lackluster campaign. the media blames all of them, basically saying 'why didn't they listen to US'.

not so good; everybody in the media seems to have been drinking their own kool-ade. commentators are livid that Trump is going to 'get away' with multiple crimes, completely ignoring the lawfare aspect. I'm still hearing 'Trump is a felon' who tried to 'overturn' the 2020 election and that Jan 6 was a riot and an insurrection in which people died. and he's a racist / sexist / homophobe / transophobe that hates immigrants and Puerto Rico and his tax cuts only benefited the wealthy etc etc.

I always figured the media knew quite well that all this was malarkey but they had to say it to deceive the electorate I mean promote the Democrat cause. these people really are out of touch with reality.
