Nor do I imagine that ballots are a huge priority for resupply. With how long they may be deployed and not hitting port, when do they get theirs? It's not like at the end of the day they get to go ashore! Considering how they blew the logistics of the Afghanistan withdrawal, do you think that the absente ballots would be handled any better? Remember it still gets moved by the federal government and not the states. The post office is a federal agency in case you forgot.

So, It could be that they inform the soldiers just before the election that they have to register online so they do not have the time to vote? It would take a couple of days to verify the online registration or mail the ballots to the soldiers who thought they could just pick them up on the base and bring them there to be counted. Confusion could make it so the soldiers could not have their votes counted possibly, not saying it was planned by either party, just saying it could be all messed up.

Bill Huizenga, R-Mich. and Mike Waltz, R-Fla., penned a letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Wednesday, writing "with grave concern" about "deficiencies in the Defense Department’s protocols," which also includes not making service members aware of their options on how to vote.

"Our nation’s brave men and women in uniform brought to our attention that there has been inadequate education at the administrative level on how to register to vote, request an absentee ballot, and fill in a federal write-in absentee ballot if their state-issued ballot does not arrive in time," the lawmakers write.
