I just noticed this today, now the vast majority of CNN stories require a paid subscription to read.

This is new, and probably shows the financial strain that CNN is under.

This is a shame, I used CNN to keep track of what the lefties were doing/saying. There is no way in hell I am going to pay to read CNN stories.

I guess I am stuck with MSNBC.....and they are further left than CNN.

LOL

CNN, one of the most popular news websites in the world, is starting to ask some of its visitors to pay $3.99 a month for access.

On Tuesday, the news organization is laying the first bricks in a so-called paywall that should, over time, help foot the bill for CNN’s journalism around the world.

“Starting today, we are asking users in the United States to pay a small recurring fee for unlimited access to CNN.com’s world-class articles,” Alex MacCallum, CNN’s executive vice president of digital products and services, wrote in an internal memo outlining the plan.

CNN launches a digital paywall, charging some users to read articles for the first time

LOL...I can't read that......it's blocked by the pay wall.

The thing is it says you've reached your limit of free articles......even though it was my first time this morning.....

If you are going to watch that crappy MSNBC .. then you need them to pay you.
Otherwise, you are just wasting your time and putting your brain in dangerous territory.

So this is how CNN will go down? By begging for subscribers!?! Well then they need to learn to actually give the public (or in this case subscribers) their money's worth. With this economy will people be willing to fork over money on something that they maybe able to find elsewhere for free? What is the draw? This should be fun to watch unfold.

Time for Elon to buy CNN.
They're clearly going bankrupt so he'll get it cheap.

You can get past most paywalls for articles-

paywallreader.com...

Should work for the ones without the x amount of free articles per month too.

I think almost all new outlets now are doing this now. CNN is not the only one. Which is a shame. News should be free. This will drive people to get news from other sources that may not be legitimate.

Or with the political slant people are looking for. Calling CNN legitimate is a stretch. More of an approved propaganda network these days. Just because they claim to be fair and balanced does not mean they actually are. So basically they want us to pay for their propaganda, all the networks. They have gall I'll give them that.

And another thing......why is FOX news one of the very few that allow comments on their articles. Even when the comments are against the story, they still allow comments. Lot of bots, but the comment section can be hugely entertaining.

CNN isn’t legitimate.
Their ratings show they’ve driven people away from them long ago.
Now they aren’t free.
At least the other illegitimate sources are free.
If it wasn’t for the airports, nobody would be tuning in.

If you use firefox, try using the anonymox extension and set it to a country outside the USA
I am in the UK and for UK based paywall sites, that works for me if I set it to the US server.

I just tried and I can view CNN pages from the UK-so if you set anonymox to UK server,it should let you view CNN

Who exactly own the news?

Unlike printed material, cable and online news has very little production expenses. They also have a broader source of advertising revenue to utilize. They charge the cable services to provide the channel. Are they paying their actors to make the shows pretending to be news?

If you need your customers to pay to view, you are doing it very wrong.
