So I bought one the other day.
Holy cow its blown me away, from riding rollercoasters with Santa to exploring haunted houses on Halloween to fishing on the beach and playing the craziest of crazygolf its got it all.

It's actually a bit of a comedown to be back IRL after a session, especially now I have Elite Dangerous working on it.

There is a lot of stuff thats a bit meh like a comedy club sans any jokes, that seems to (usually) be some gay person talking about being gay and asking whos trans etc in the audience.

That aint comedy kids, thats talking amongst yourselves.

Aside from that though, It's so far the best gaming thing I ever bought, now if I could just find a way to integrate it better with Coursera we would really be on to a winner.

Is this your first foray into VR?
Is Coursera the courses and Professional Certificates website or something else?

And don't get me started on Elite: Dangerous, I'll be talking all night. The VR is mindblowing......

My first proper go not using a phone or some such and yeah, that coursera.
Trying to sort out python programming at the moment and get some sorta cert in it.

ED is utterly mind blowing in VR even though its starting me off back in a little sidey while my main account is way out in the black between Sag A and Beagle point

I imagine you have a steam account, they have a few good VR games with better visuals than than the standard stuff on Meta.
If you're into sim stuff then try out something like War Thunder which is free for the basic version, also DCS but that gets deep really quickly.
For Jumps, if it's still free, try Propagation. If you truely want some great VR then also try Half Life Alex.
As for Elite: Dangerous, I'm flying a Chieftan, I started playing years ago and never really enjoyed it but have recently gotten back into because of the VR. It's just amazing to be honest.

Good luck with your Python programming.

My main ship is a Krait 2, I usually get bored trying to do one thing so thats why stuff like the krait suits me.
My explorer is an asp. I tried a jumpconda once but got too bored with that paper plane build.

I have DCS I am trying really hard not to splurge 70 notes on the F4

I'll look at Half life Alex, thanks. and yeah the python is going pretty well, nowhere near as mental as C felt years ago.

My boys got the Quest 3, me and the Mrs still have Quest 2.

I love playing Arizona Sunshine and Battlezone.

If you have a powerful PC to pair them with it helps.

They wean loves Gorilla Tag.

To many weirdos on the likes of the multiplayer interactive mumbo-jumbo for my liking.

You need to watch while the weans are playing because some of the places can be full of some rather questionable people.

Whats Coursera?

Luckily my kids are too old to be worrying about that sorta thing, the boys have a metaquest 2 each.

I'm completely surprised at seeing say an avatar with a beard running round then hearing the voice of like a 6 year old...Thats weird.

I was playing cricket earlier, completely smashed my knuckled on the bedside table hoofing one for the boundary. In future I will be going out into the hall for that

Coursera is mostly free You can save your progress too, so you can have a permanent record of courses you have done which can make a difference on a CV for instance.

As mentioned by Kurokage try Half Life Alex , getting attacked by and trying to shoot Headcrabs while they're attacking you will have you screaming like a girl , I have a Rift S but I hear the resolution on the Quest 3 is superior to mine.

I used mine mainly for Sim racing but there are some cool games out there ,I'd also recommend No Man's Sky in VR , happy bumping into real world walls.

My one bit of advice i would give.

Stay away from large-screen TVs and monitors/mirrors when playing.

Or do what a i did and construct a sort of guard that covers the screen out of the box they came in and some styrofoam.

Because you may punch and break things, including the odd finger or two.

edit on 2-11-2024 by andy06shake because: Changed that to may but trust me its a posssbility

I like the driving games.

Project Cars, Assetto Corsa, and Dirt Rally are a sight to behold.

Dirt Rally 2 in particular is a particular favorite.

Any motion sickness yet?
