A direct attack upon Iran will, without doubt, result in a major retaliatory response.

The Iranian regime cannot possibly allow such an assault upon their homeland to go unattended.

The result will, more than likely, a very bloody escalation.

And a fevered escalation to develop, and demonstrate, an Iranian nuclear weapon.

And then things get even spicier.

IRAN barks loudly, but their Airforce and Navy are small.

Quite a few of us called it months ago. With Kamala polling so low the Dems may think this will catapult her into the lead; I hope people aren't that stupid.

That would imply Israel is helping out the administration.

I think if Iran keeps retaliating there soon won't be an Iran.

Israel always the better bet for some odd unknown reason.

I can see Israel doing that...for the right price.

Now the problem will be if China likes the idea of their major energy supplier getting done over. My guess is this is going to escalate .

Yeah; I don't see the BRICS members turning the other cheek on this one.

gotta say I am amazed that the Iranians don't even seem to have a flack gun...

ETA I can see they do but they seem incapable of hitting anything.

All we know is that Israel has attacked Iran. We don't seem to have much with regards to optical results. A lot of misinformation

"Life normal across Iran after air defense thwarts Israeli aggression....................Daily life continues smoothly across Iran after the country’s air defense force successfully intercepted Israeli aggression on military sites in Tehran, Ilam, and Khuzestan provinces in the early hours of Saturday.

Explosions were reported in some parts of the Iranian capital a couple of hours after the midnight Friday, with Iranian security forces saying they were due to the country's "air defense activity”.

Videos circulating online captured the Iranian air defense targeting “adversarial objects in the airspace surrounding Tehran province.”

Despite hyped-up reports of an Israeli aerial raid in mainstream media, Iranians began their week as usual." www.presstv.ir...

This seems like a relatively measured and restrained response from Israel.

When the news first broke late last night I thought that a full scale onslaught had been launched but it now seems that specific military installations were targeted. No senior Iranian leaders were in the crosshairs and hopefully there has been very few, if any, civilian casualties.

It seems like Israel felt honour bound to make same sort of retaliatory attack in response to the recent Iranian missile attack but it also seems like they may have listened to the concerns expressed to them by numerous world leaders, yes including Biden, to be restrained.

The key here will be how Iran responds in kind.
I suspect they will feel they have no option but to launch another series of largely ineffectual missiles at Israel no doubt sparking yet another relatively lame response from Israel.

Of course there is the danger that it'll gradually escalate to such a point that its significantly more than what it is at present....let's hope calmer heads will prevail. (To be honest I've never put much faith in hope.)

The Israeli military said its air force struck “missile manufacturing facilities” that it said were used to produce the missiles that Iran had fired at Israel over the last year.

It also said the Israeli military struck “surface-to-air missile arrays and additional Iranian aerial capabilities, that were intended to restrict Israel’s aerial freedom of operation in Iran.” It is unclear if those manufacturing facilities also produced missiles launched by Iranian proxies Hezbollah, Hamas and Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Good, now hit them again, harder next time.

I get the sense Israel has been trying to show Iran how outclassed they are.

Between one of the Hamas leaders getting killed by a smuggled bomb in Tehran, the pagers crippling Hezbollah, and the range of precision Israel has… there is a message.

Which would be all fine and dandy for normal, logical countries with a sense of mortality. But sadly, this is a different kind of war on ideology considering Iran sees themselves as a caliphate of sorts. I suppose people could say something similar of Israel seeing as it’s the nation of the Jewish people, but many of them are more agnostic or even atheist who find connection with their people as an ethnic or cultural one.

It was just for show ..

The “Israelis made it clear to the Iranians in advance what they are going to attack in general and what they are not going to attack,” Axios reported. The US media outlet asserted that this reflected an “attempt to limit the ongoing exchange of attacks between Israel and Iran and prevent a wider escalation.”

According to the report, Israel also warned the Islamic Republic against responding to its attack, threatening a more devastating strike if Tehran does retaliate.

Israel made really bad, Iran is a piece of crap nation, Israel should have targeted their nuclear sites and oil fields that would have send them back decades in advances.

Lets see if the terrorist in the US thanks to biden and kamala open borders will do something about it, here in the US before elections.

This was a very weak response by Israel, probably due to international pressure to not target nuke sites, oil fields or leadership. I don't see Iran having a good excuse to respond in any meaningful way.

I was thinking Israel might have heeded Biden's warning because if they hit back hard and it escalated into all-out war, the support from a Biden or Harris admin would be tepid like it has been for Ukraine. Just enough to keep a stalemate going and casualties mounting, but not enough to win.

On the other hand, if Trump comes back, he will have Israel's back. Maybe this was just a placeholder "response" until they see the outcome of the election.
