A direct attack upon Iran will, without doubt, result in a major retaliatory response.
The Iranian regime cannot possibly allow such an assault upon their homeland to go unattended.
The result will, more than likely, a very bloody escalation.
And a fevered escalation to develop, and demonstrate, an Iranian nuclear weapon.
And then things get even spicier.

Quite a few of us called it months ago. With Kamala polling so low the Dems may think this will catapult her into the lead; I hope people aren't that stupid.
That would imply Israel is helping out the administration.
Now the problem will be if China likes the idea of their major energy supplier getting done over. My guess is this is going to escalate .
The Israeli military said its air force struck “missile manufacturing facilities” that it said were used to produce the missiles that Iran had fired at Israel over the last year.
It also said the Israeli military struck “surface-to-air missile arrays and additional Iranian aerial capabilities, that were intended to restrict Israel’s aerial freedom of operation in Iran.” It is unclear if those manufacturing facilities also produced missiles launched by Iranian proxies Hezbollah, Hamas and Houthi rebels in Yemen.

This was a very weak response by Israel, probably due to international pressure to not target nuke sites, oil fields or leadership. I don't see Iran having a good excuse to respond in any meaningful way.
