Looking forward to seeing Keanu Reeves in this. He is such a humble and likeable guy.

Watched ep1 last night... I love the show, long been a big fan of Hancock. And Keanu is someone it's impossible not to like...

But wtf! His brief appearance in this was laughable. Completely unnecessary and clearly crowbarred into the ep just so netflix could put him in the trailers.

What did he contribute aside from a basic 'yeah, i think you're right - cool'? I was waiting to hear why he thought Graham was right - an actual considered reason/theory, bc surely there's a reason he's on the show.
Nope! No reason other than 'hey look it's Neo! Wick! Ted!
Poor Graham looked as though he was thinking 'why are you here' the whole time to.

But at the end of the day if this cynical ploy to put a star in the trailers gets more folk watching, then great bc more folk should watch this. But seriously dude, wtf šŸ¤£

Yep, you are absolutely right, they completely failed to make use of whatever technical knowhow he might have posessed and used him just as a sort of fanboy.

You can tell from the jumpy continuity of the arm gesturing that they cut a lot out. Probably a bit of a nightmare in the edit with lots and back & forth with exec notes desperate to get their money's worth out out him...

Netflix: "Can you put more Keanu in?"
The editor puts more Keanu in. Sends it back to NF
NF: "Can you put better Keanu in?"
Editor: That's the best bits, the rest is gibberish.
NF tells producer to put another editor on it, the current one is no goods.
New Editor puts more Keanu in. Sends it to NF
NF: "Can you put better Keanu in?"
Ad infinitum...

Three additional months added to the edit schedule and several rounds of editors, producers and new cuts later NF finally accept that paying for Keanu Reeves gets you Keanu Reeves, not Neil deGrasse Tyson or The Dali Lama

I was hoping Graham would unveil some amazing artifact and Keanu would say

Pretty disappointing

Binged the show yesterday.
It was great.
Still trying to figure out what the point of including Keanu was.

maybe he is doing what henry cavill is doing with 40K
he just loves ancient aliens/ apocalypse and is interested in the subject matter
maybe he just wanted to get involved because he thinks what graham is doing is cool

I watched the first few episodes
Keanu didnt really add much to the show so far in my opinion
but celebs bring exposure , sort of like if taylor swift suddenly took an interest in ancient cultures
suddenly millions of people who never thought to look are suddenly into ancient cultures too

I just think its mind blowing that we have these massive structures in those places
I mean why do you need a giant wall up a mountain in the first place
what are you defending from ?

giants ?

Well, since you asked, what's not to love is listening to a grifter lying about archaeologists, lying about archaeological sites, and lying about archaeological consensus.
What's to love?
The cinematography.

How is anybody who declares a different conclusion to what only
amounts to an academic narrative be justifiably called a grifter?

Why should I trust the word of anyone who makes accusations of lying
about anyone who is only asking some very legitimate questions?

I respect the hell out of archeaologists and their expertise. But there's
just no way in hell anyone will ever convince me that a great deal of
our past isn't being hidden.

Because I know why it's being hidden and it's as plain as the nose on
your face, If you are willing to face reality.

How do you know that? So which are the reasonswhy you believe a vast conspiracy to hide 'x' is occurring? - but at the same time Hancocks knows about it - and you too, and he can effortlessly expose it on prime time? Who has been hiding this for 250 years (from when Archaeology got started) and for what purpose and why do they suck so bad at it?

Alright, I appreciate your response and even respect your cynicism. I
can't speak for anything Hancock knows. I can only defend his
speculations as being just as good as any number of archeaological
speculations. If you understand how miniscuel the amount of
archaeological excavations are in comparison to what's still buried.
Then you understand how much is just pure speculation. Is archaeology
willing to change a narrative in light of new evidence? I believe
archaeologists are certainly.

Do I believe they are allowed to do so? Not always and by no means in
certain cases.

Oh and this all goes much further back than 250 yrs.

Keanu himself seemed to be wondering what he was doing there as well. Borderline awkward interaction, at least in the final cut.

He seemed to not really know what to say, and he didn't really say anything other than that history might be different. Seemed awkward to me, is he in more than one, or is he just a cameo?
