This is pretty sad. FEMA is there to help people with disaster relief. But they are getting threatened by some idiot that are believing all the nonsense going around.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man and charged him with going armed to the terror of the public after security threats prompted a pause in some FEMA operations around western North Carolina.

William Jacob Parsons, 44, from Bostic was arrested after dispatchers were told a white male holding an assault rifle and making comments about harming FEMA employees.

At this point this just feels like a misinformation campaign by some foreign government to make an already bad situation worse. Or by certain elements in our own government to make the current administration look bad. Probably both.

The news comes after FEMA workers across Hurricane Helene’s disaster zone in western North Carolina have been targeted with misinformation and rumors about the federal government’s recovery operations in the area.

Also seems like a lone perp.

In a press release, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said reports of militia units were unfounded and that Parsons is accused of acting alone.

This is the first time Ive heard gangs mentioned, which sounds bogus AH. #1 A gang of marauders would have to worry more about other Carolinians than FEMA.

In one western county, they had to put up guards because somebody stole a few cans of gasoline, but these weren't FEMA these were citizens working on a closed road IIRC.
