So I'm reading through this reddit sub about prepping (I was looking for a canning answer), and I come across this thread asking..."How long can you survive on just raisins and water?"

This person says they have a lot of running water and an "infinite supply of raisins". (having trouble typing this I'm snickering so hard)

LOL! (snort)

Who TF has an "infinite supply of raisins"??? LOLOLOLOLOL...(oh my gawd, I'm just crackin' up here!!) (snort..snort..LOLOL!)

This person was totally serious, and asks several follow up questions...the responses to which are just funnier and funnier as they go. Of course, people repeatedly ask...'just exactly how many raisins do you have???'. Eventually the dude answers and says...he's been stockpiling raisins for "years" and now has an infinite supply. Who, in their right mind, would sit down one day and say to themselves..."Ya' know, I think I should start stockpiling RAISINS for the lean years a'comin' and armageddon!" ?????

Now, I'm sorry y'all, but that's just too damn funny, an' I don't care who ya' are!! ROFLMAO!!

(I've probably got a few screws loose, but that just cracked me up!)

HAHA

In all fairness, there's a lot of sugar in raisins. They could probably make alcoholic beverages and yeast for breads with raisins. Then that stuff could be bartered.

Stockpile things people will barter with you. I think it is ridiculous people who hoard gold or silver it will be basically worthless if there is a major catastrophe and civilization as we know it, no longer exists. It will take a Generation or several until precious metals will be a commodity worth trading.

Booze, Cigarettes will be very much wanted as will basics of food, flour rice beans.

Raisins though?!?

Back in the early 90s gave up smoking using dried fruit as a displacement.

There are people who still have not forgiven me for my gaseous emissions.

Some who works at a raisin production facility. Most likely live in or near grape growing country. Has a kleptomaniac tendency at work and exploited a perk of job to the max.

I've gone down a serious rabbit hole now! Saw another review of a different product (tinned fish 10 years past its expiration date)...poster says it was so horrible they had to spit it out, and for emphasis they went on to say..."and it was so bad not even my 96 year old mother would eat it! It was THAT bad!!"

(THUD!) OMG...who would feed expired sardines to their poor 96 year old mother???? LOLOL!! Jeezus!!

edit - What, is your poor mother your garbage disposal??? LOL!! (I'm dyin' here!)
(BTW - This was an Amazon review)

With raisins, you make them into a mash, then distill. Theres your brandy.

Sardines keep for years. I get mine from Portugal. Only one company does it the old way, by hand, cooking them outside the can. Nuri. I buy 10 packs for 50 bucks, otherwise they are 7 bucks a pop. They dont stay on the shelf long enough to get bad

Well, he can make wine from the raisins, use them with a slingshot on squirrels, can use them as earplugs and noseplugs. Lots of uses for an infinite supply of raisins. Reload his shotgun shells with them. Crap, now I'm snickering.

I like Nuri too, and a couple other brands from the same region, BUT...would you feed 10 year expired cans to your 96 year old mother if they were too nasty for you to eat????? LOL!!

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't...IF Mom was alive today!

Five bucks a can for sardines? That seems really expensive to me, I have a couple of sardine cans in stock, they cost maybe a buck and a quarter. I prefer Brunswick kippered herring myself, I buy them when they are on sale, picked up six cans about three months ago for about a buck sixty six. We got lots of canned Tuna and canned salmon in stock too....

We used to prep. But now we are older, and have health issues.

If everything goes down, our meds will run out, and then we wouldn't want to be alive anyways.

So we don't prep anymore.

There ha e been one or two prepped publications which published their top ten things which will be worth more than gold if the SHTF. There were both obvious AND surprising ones. Things like:
Liquor. Antibiotics. Freezedried food
Heroin/Fentanyl. Radios. Agriculture seeds
Ammo. Batteries
Firearms. Water purification systems

A song..."Born to be Wild...comes to mind.

The lyrics say...

"Fire all of your guns at once and...ex-plode into space!"

Always liked that line. Has a deeper meaning.

FF, you don't like me because I've shamed Netanyahu, and I will do it again. You will see how right I am before this is all over.

I have absolutely no use for the terrorist palestinians, hamas or hezzbollah,...none. But you cannot see this. My issue is...Netanyahu. He needs to go. The Israeli people do not support his actions.

F'k the terrorists...but F'k the war mongers and empire builders too.

One day you will understand.

Oh yeah any types of drugs but you can't typically get those. I Stock easily bought over the counter antibiotics and creams. There are so many sites that want to sell "PREP" stuff and commodities they also panic people into sales!
