John Kerry Says First Amendment is a Major Roadblock for Government

John Kerry, former U.S. Secretary of State, etc., has determined the First Amendment is a major stumbling block !!

Kerry has been active behind the scenes (Iran talking) too as well as being U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate.

Former Secretary of State John Kerry has drawn attention with remarks that some critics interpret as a critique of the First Amendment and its protections of free speech. During a recent discussion, Kerry voiced concerns about the role of social media in shaping public discourse and the challenges it creates for democratic governance.

Kerry lamented the difficulty of building consensus in today’s political climate, attributing much of the problem to the decline of traditional fact-checking institutions and the rise of self-selected media consumption. “The referees we used to have to determine what’s a fact and what isn’t a fact, they’ve been eviscerated,” Kerry said, adding that the First Amendment poses a “major block” to curbing misinformation from certain media outlets.

He said:


I think the dislike of and anguish over social media is just growing and growing and growing. It’s part of our problem, particularly in democracies, in terms of building consensus around any issue. It’s really hard to govern today. The referees we used to have to determine what’s a fact and what isn’t a fact, they’ve been eviscerated to a certain degree. People go and then people self-select where they go for their news or for their information, and then you just get into a vicious cycle. It’s really, really hard, much harder to build consensus today than at any time in the ’45s For 50 years, I’ve been involved in this. There’s a lot of discussion now about how you curb those entities in order to guarantee that you’re going to have some accountability on facts, et cetera. But look, if people go to only one source, and the source they go to is sick and has an agenda, and they’re putting out this information, our First Amendment stands as a major block to the ability to be able to just hammer it out of existence. So what you need, what we need, is to win the ground, win the right to govern by, hopefully, winning enough votes that you’re free to be able to implement change.

Kerry is a great example of how these people are trying and whining to make America the next communist "utopia."
What he apparently doesn't understand is that the constitution is working just fine. I submit to him that HE is the one spreading disinformation.

The world - "It will be great; the internet will connect people in ways never before seen. There will be a free flow of information and everyone will have instant access too it at the snap of their fingers."


The world's Politicians - "The internet is a threat; to bad we have laws that protect it."

Luckily for America, John Kerry has been one of the most irrelevant figures in politics.

The guy is just so uninspiring, then he says things like this and wonders why he never really made it.

Why is that guy still blathering?

He should have been put in jail decades ago. He tossed his medals over the fence at the White House rejecting them, but then went on to claim them when he ran for POTUS. That's stolen valor. And he went to France and negotiated with the enemy during Vietnam when that was totally against the law in America.

Translation : We can't control the flow of information anymore.

Back in "the good 'ol days" we only had 3 channels, Walter Cronkite could tell us "that's the way it is" and people had faith he and other journalists we're telling them the truth. Now, we have God knows how many channels and everyone has access to their favorite talking head who tells them what they want to hear. Granted, they have their thumb on most of them and they all spout the same collective BS, but they don't control ALL of them and for TPTB, that's a problem.

When damn every person on the planet has a cell phone and can record what's really going on and put it the internet for the world to see, it's hard to hide the truth and They Don't Like It.

Beat me to it. Whatever roadblocks can be inserted in front of this federal government, which has become anything but by and for the people, is a win. IMO.
