Hello ATS!

Recently, the Dutch project Nodegoat used an algorithm to display all battles in history for 2500 years of human existence. As a result, this interactive map appeared

Source with the map

During the study, the Dutch studied 12703 wars. Of these, about 8000 thousand were able to document. They were included in the selection. Then the computer plotted the battle sites on the map.

The results of the study were shocking!

According to the interactive map, the European continent turned out to be the largest arena of military conflicts. France, Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain are in the lead. Moreover, Great Britain was not only an active participant in wars, but also an organizer of wars. Over the past 500 years, Great Britain has organized more than 70 major wars on the continent.

It is curious how the situation developed in the United States. In the early 1600s, the first settlers arrived in America. Almost immediately, wars with the Indians began. The last official war with the Indians ended in 1920, that is, wars with the native inhabitants of America lasted for over 300 years.

If we take only major military conflicts, then the United States has participated in over 100 wars over the past 300 years, and Russia - in 22 wars. As for Europe, wars there took place like football matches - often and with pleasure.

Even such an ambiguous source as Wikipedia gives us an impressive list of wars that took place in Europe.
List of conflicts in Europe.

A natural question arises: who is the most bloodthirsty people here, and where do they live?

Thank you

In history there have been many who you might call blood thirsty. Genghis, Rome, and Alexander the great comes to mind but that was then and not now. Now we Muslims fighting each other and others as they have done throughout history. Others fighting for land or conquest of the sea. Welcome to Earth MF (my friend ) ! !

I think in Europe, the geography has much to do with it. The geography allowed distinct cultures to arise in various areas. Also, it could be noted that many areas that were not as developed would not be able to count their constant skirmishes as battle.
For instance, if skirmishes were allowed into the US civil war states, then Missouri, which was practically complete wilderness back then, would have had the most confrontations in that war yet at the same time a much lower casualty number,
Still though interesting.
One final point is that it is possible to also say that Europe's constant warring may be partially responsible for Europe skyrocket into modernity ahead of most other cultures on this planet. Of course lately we are doing our best to go in the opposite direction.

good post mate.
I do take issue with them not counting sieges though.
Apart from that it is going to take up hours and hours of my free time

Zooming out tells us that it looks like Europeans are the more likely to go to war through history...Though it could just be the greater prevalence of written history that leads to more dots.

I’m calling bs on this whole map. Australia has multiple yellow dots scattered around it… I mean wtf? It wasn’t even inhabited by any one except the native Aboriginals until the late 1700’s.

I don’t doubt there were some run ins between native tribes, but how’s that supposed to be documented and recorded?

Without even looking any further into it, it’s just obvious to me that this is nothing more than made up Russian propaganda.

Plot the evolution of humanity / society over the same map, and you'll see the exact same plot distribution.

No surprise here.

I don't agree with the title of war for every conflict and battle. For instance, many battles were fought during the Revolutionary war in America, 1775-1783. The data is a little misleading in that regard.

Land has been fought over since the beginning of time though. And still is.

We think we are special.
We think we ae clever.

Then we look at maps like this and see that we are just the same as the rest of nature on our rock-all in it together in a constant battle for territory and resources.

If we are special and clever-we need to rise above this sh1t or we will be extinct before we can escape to another planet.

in Russia. They are so bloodthirsty, they are killing their own, just as the US did over 100 years ago.

It's important to realize and understand bad people who did bad thing in previous generations, aren't the same people existing today. But as we see with Russia, war is the way for those who cannot reason.

Well as you clearly don't want to acknowledge all of 60+ Russian wars posted by Gortex, maybe you are trying to hide something about that bloodthirsty comment??
Another feeble attempt at trying to blame the west for all the worlds woes.

One thing is clear from this map; no one seems to want to fight over the worthless frozen areas of the world.

Maybe now that we have ways to extract natural resources from those areas that will change.

Then you have Stalin. Historians estimates of numbers of his own people's deaths he caused vary but at least 9 million and possibly 60 million.

Talk about bloodthirsty!

Nope.

The natural question is ... why believe the map? It's incomplete.

Many countries wage war against others in the victim's country .. like what Russia is doing to Ukraine. The war takes place in Ukraine but the 'bloodthirsty people' aren't the Ukrainians, it's the Russians who are attacking it.

And it doesn't have all the terrorist attacks. Example - The continuing Muslim terrorist attacks in Africa, where they slaughter Christians by the hundreds at a time. Those aren't wars so they don't make it on your map.

And your map may give a dot in Vietnam showing a war, which was waged by those out of country in a proxy ... China and USA and France ... So why put the dot in Vietnam to make the Vietnamese look 'bloodthirsty', when they werent the ones only engaging in the war?

And there aren't dots for the mass killing machines that were running countries ... Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Genghis Khan, HItler, Pol Pot, etc etc. Don't they get dots for their countries .. and why just one dot when they killed more people than some wars? Killer regimes aren't there in the map.

So no. Your map is inaccurate, not complete and doesn't tell 'who is the most bloodthirsty'. Not even close.

I'm only surprised that Great Britain doesn't have "Bastards" written over it on the map.

And this map doesn't give him a dot. And even if it did, it shouldn't have the same weight as a dot in Germany that only 10,000 died at a battle. So not only is the map incomplete, it is unbalanced as well. Each dot would have to be a different size based on how many dead. Stalin should have a dot that takes up half of Russia whereas a battle in Germany with 10,000 dead should be small in comparison.

It's silly to ask who is the most bloodthirsty based on an incomplete and unbalanced map that has some battles on it.

No mention of the atheist Bolsheviks who influenced Mao? Believe they were the first to “legalize” modern abortion which is the greatest quantity of murders in all known history though the Bolshevik and Mao “revolutions” account for more murdered (democide) than all wars combined in the last 2000 years.

Wasn’t there a connection to the Holomodor famine prior to Bolshevism? Khazars, Muslims, Babylonian Talmud, International Bankers and “The State of Israel”?

Didn't the Khazars, who sported a hexagram shield, have a vendetta against their defeat from Ukraine?

“Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.”
Gal4

“And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”Rev18

“He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.” Is2

Yes. In particular the Dutch study doesn't seem to take into account population growth. Here is an interesting data visualization animation that shows the growth of population over the globe vs time.

www.youtube.com...

Up until the beginning of the age of global exploration (1492), the large majority of the world's population was concentrated in the areas of historical Han China, historical India, and the historical Roman Empire. World population at that time was about 425 Million. Because population grows exponentially, population was 4 times as great by 1900, and 14 times as great in 2000. If you could plot number of wars per capita, you might even find that the number has gone down with time.
