so here's a link, in case anyone was living under a giant space rock.
www.theguardian.com...

how do you think this second moon will affect the earths tides? is it going to cause tsunamis? or erratic weather?

Does a fly affect your body in any way when it flies by ten feet away from you?

Ten meters long, and you ask about tidal influences? The ISS probably has more tidal influences than it will.

Its effect will be negligible. Not enough mass to affect anything at all.

The Hubble telescope is the size of a city bus.
This asteroid is barely a drop in the ocean size wise so no effects on gravity.

It's the size of a city bus according to your source.

So, unless it is made up of Neutronium the answer to your questions are "No".

Nice find, though.

It won't react at all really given the discrepancy in size.

2020 CD3 was a near earth asteroid captured in orbit and became a minimoon from 2017 to 2020.

Earth will react in a similar fashion.

I guess since it is only staying maybe two months it wouldn't have to apply for immigration. It is just a tourist. Now how can we get that asteroid to boost our economies. It probably does not have any money.

Yeah. These are the same scientists who did the math on that Mars Lander and we know how that turned out. I would like to know what will happen if it decides to swing back around and hits earth.

How might that happen? It doesn't make decisions.

Decides?

The object will follow the rules of celestial mechanics.

It can't just decide to do anything.

And should it hit the Earth, at the size of a bus, not that much would be my guess.

Aside from possibly breaking up in the atmosphere depending on the composition and maybe creating a light show.

What Mars lander do you mean?

Several missions to Mars have failed over the years due to various technical issues or navigation errors, especially in the early days.

I didn’t have alien invasion on my bingo card for October.

Oh well, guess I’ll add it.

This is kind of strange-there have been a few videos popping onto my youtube recently about people having "rapture" dreams/visions-and in those visions many are seeing 2 moons.

Then there are the videos which are claiming this years "Feast of Trumpets"(oct 2/3rd)is the date for the rapture..whch is during the time this mini moon is captured by our planets gravity.

At the same time we have chaos in Israel and the middle east.

Oh and didn't the UN just declare a one world government?

Coincidences or things foretold?
We get to find out.

Decide meaning the math was incorrect. That's all. As for impact, if it hit at its size (bus size) it would have a large impact. Would want to hope they knew the true size.

Here is a comparison....

Link

It was a metric error....landing failure.

In September of 1999, after almost 10 months of travel to Mars, the Mars Climate Orbiter burned and broke into pieces. On a day when NASA engineers were expecting to celebrate, the ground reality turned out to be completely different, all because someone failed to use the right units, i.e., the metric units!

It's not just to do with its size, but mass, composition, velocity, and angle of attack, that would donate what would happen should it hit our planet.

I mean if it were to make it all the way to the ground it could make a 100/200 meter creator and go off like a tactical nuke if comprised of metal or dense rock.

But chances are it will simply burn up or explode in the upper atmosphere.

Earth is hit by small asteroids and meteoroids frequently, from bus-sized asteroids every few decades to ones less than 1 meter in diameter just about every day.

Thanks for the explanation. I understand the dynamics of an impact based on those factors. It make huge difference. My sarcastic point was it could pass....or it could not. We are living in a DEI/AI world so it would not surprise me.

There are a few recently and one last week this size that have passed between us and the moon. Pretty close.Happens much more than we know. .
