I'm no prude (by a long shot), but that one might be pushing it a bit. Okay, it's art I guess, but it's definitely controversial art which probably does warrant some discretion with public display.

The artist needed to sexualise it to sell it. It’s porn.

Looks like impressionism to me.

And if you think that's porn.

You're going to love art history if you ever happen upon the subject.

Here, it would definitely be rated "R", "Restricted" at the very least, and would not be allowed in a front window in public a mall, or street, like that.

They certainly could display it, like in a place like "Spencer's Gifts", but in the back of the store, maybe in a room behind a curtain or a door.

Haha what a great store, I had to look it up since they use my name

the artist stated “In my opinion all the women who have something bad to say about the painting aren’t grossed out so much as insecure,” said Poppy.

“It is sad to see so many women upset by something we all have. I think penises can be seen as comical while vulvas are only sexual.

sauce

the source has a slightly better pic of the painting, putting it more in context.

HA!! Yeah it was a great place. I remember as a kid my mom wouldn't let me go in there. It was the only place I knew who sold Tarot cards and my mom told me I wasn't allowed to have any because she didn't want me getting into "VOODOO". LOL!

They sold all kinds of cool stuff. Lava lamps, weird gags, pipes, and... "VOODOO" stuff...you name it. LOL!

If the imagine was one of a person in ambiguous underwear, we wouldn’t be posting about. Would we.

The cynic in me can't help but note how well known the artist is all of a sudden.

I do like the other painting on the left.

Aesthetically pleasing to the eye, more complex, and i do love the vibrant colours.

Not bad but she's no Tracy Emin, she did a bunch of line drawings of ballet moves a few years ago, they were awesome

And pictures of women in such a position isn’t exactly rare nor hard to come buy either. But I guess each generation needs to feel they are the ones pushing boundaries?

I don’t know many women that would just lounge around spread open. It just seems sexualised for attention, and not something women do just to do.

Something like a women sleeping naked would be more natural and closer to reality for just normal.

I don't think anyone ever claimed to understand women and why they do the things they do.

Well back to a modicum of sensibility.

I do like the painting all the same.

Fact of the matter is great art is often made by morally problematic people.

Take for instance Caravaggio or Vincent Van Gogh.

The most interesting thing about Vinnie to me was that he was rich as stink when he lived in London as an art dealer and only became poor when he went off to become a painter
