I have been making birch art work since 2008! Here is my latest.

I go out and find dead birch bark, wash it in hot salt water. It peels into many layers. Cut it and design my idea in my head and carefully layout the birch. The hard part is glueing it because it’s bent like the tree.

I have found fast drying super glue works the best. If anyone knows a fast drying clear glue that works good please let me know. Super glue gets on my gloves, it makes a mess.

Also if anyone has birch bark in their yard kindly PM me. The birch I get is from northern Michigan and the area I found is running low due to me gathering at up and I would never kill a living tree!

Please share your art work too!

Where is your nail polish remover, aceitone? It removes super glue in case you get stuck.

I have used super glue for clamping with epoxy. Use a drop of super glue on bare spots along the glue edge to hold until the epoxy sets. Super glue eventually lets go after a while. It is not permanent. It was originally made to replace sutures in surgery, not ment to last.

That is some nice woodwork.
