If my children were still school age, I would homeschool them, or send them to a private school if I could afford it. My wife is retiring from public school teaching this year. She is very happy about that because she says the entire culture of public school is depressing and at times bizarre and occasionally dangerous.

Why do people think a private school is better? Really? The only private schools around me are Christian or Catholic schools. They are no better than public schools and brainwash even more in a different capacity.

I wish I could homeschool my son. I do not like the school system today, not one bit. It is ridiculous but he is my son so he isn't stupid and can think for himself.

I would not want to be a teacher today, no way. My mom retired a couple years ago and states the same things as your wife. Teachers can't teach anymore, they can only dictate what they are told.

I went to my son's school recently and it felt like I was entering a damn prison not a school. Also why does the school cop need a dog and a HUGE semi automatic gun along with two other guns? I mean it's an elementary school in a normal town. It's so insane to me. It's not like the area is crime ridden so it makes no sense to me. Also the high school here is getting metal detectors, why? Again if it was crime ridden I could see it, but it's not so what is the point? I used to go visit my elementary school teachers and say hi back in the day, now you could never do that!
