Zelensky is the antagonist? I think you have that backwards.

Well, that's rather off-putting.

If Zelensky wanted favour play possum, play the victim.

He has got this a bit wrong.

It sickens me that, people are on struggle street in moist western countries, and yet these governments are sending billions to an actor.

Whose wifey goes on big shopping sprees to Harrods, whilst Ukrainians are being killed.

Zelenskyy did not invade Russia.

Seriously — you think they’re just out casually living their lives?

Walking targets don’t do that.

I think it is predominantly drones Ukraine dropped on Moscow as opposed to bombs.

Again whats good for the goose is good for the gander.

And what goes around, comes around.

Yes, and Zelensky is abiding by the West's caveat not to use their long range missiles in Russia.

Watching those things fly over a city must be reminiscent of the Nazi doodlebugs from the second world war.

Terrifying and demoralising would be my guess.

Russia is doing to Ukraine's towns and cities what Germany did to ours in WW2.

I find it astonishing that some are fine with this.

It did not work out too well for the likes of Hamburg and Berlin by way of our reciprocation.

Time for cooler heads to prevail methinks.

The thing is Putin's not ready to give in pick up stix and go back home.

Not when he still has fresh meat left for the grinder as unfortunate as the case may be.

Seems to me that Zelensky's plan is to weaken Putin's standing in Russia by bringing the consequences of his war to Russians.

This is what we in America call the “Hail Mary play”.
It’s the most desperate of moves which fails 99% of the time.
Only in this case it’s real lives at stake, Ukraine soldiers and civilians.
Most desperate leaders who care about their country would be negotiating instead of bellying up to the craps table.
Zelenskyy is haphazardly gambling the lives of his countrymen for a handful of American shekels.
Whichever way this ends up, I’m sure we can all agree which direction Zelenskyy’s bank account goes. ⬆️

Is it a hail Mary play when Putin does it or are different standards being applied?

His countrymen seem more than willing to defend their country.

By negotiating, do you mean capitulating?

As some have pointed out, appeasement of an invasion minded dictator seldom works out well.

Besides, given his track record, why would anyone in their right mind trust Putin to keep his word?

Throwing Ukraine under the bus should not be an option.

When is that the case when your own sovereignty is on the line? How often do countries capitulate when it means they’ll be losing territory?

As far as how often that’s successful, Afghanistan was one of the first dominos that started the fall of the USSR. Moms got tired of getting their sons back in boxes. Russia may be on track to lose more soldiers in Ukraine than they did in that war. Not to mention, they weren’t experiencing attacks in Moscow back then to my knowledge.

So one has to wonder, do a lot of Russians feel their government bit off more than they can chew? And are they agreement this is a priority for the cost? More land in Ukraine for being isolated from a good part of the world and the cost of life.

I know We’d be upset if the US lost hundreds of thousands of troops for the Baja peninsula in Mexico.

This is likely to rally Russian citizens behind Putin...the same way Ukraine rallied behind Z when Russia attacked.
Not the best strategy for Ukraine.

Doubtful.

There is open criticism of him since Kursk.

People rally around their leader when their country comes under attack.
It's history.
