Judges

After Jehovah freed the Israelites from slavery in the land of Egypt he lead them by way of the wilderness to Mount Sinai where he made a covenant with them and they became his peoples, even though they broke it as soon as they made it. Then they wondered around for 40 years in the wilderness because of their rebelliousness until all of the generation of 20 years old and up had died. Then Joshua lead the younger generation who were just children when they left Egypt into the land of promise and conquered 31 kings. We come in history to the book of Judges.

They have the Law given to Moses and live according to its statues and judicial regulations. At that time the tabernacle, the center for pure worship to Jehovah, was situated in Shiloh. From there Joshua issued his final decrees and blessings and curses on the rebellious people of Israel before he died.
There is no king in Israel yet. It is as it was stated in Judges, "each one was doing what was right in his own eyes:"

In those days, there was no king in Israel. Each one was doing what was right in his own eyes.-Judges 17:6.

This afternoon I have finally been able to make time to read through Judges. I have been meaning to do it for a number of days now on my journey to stream all of the Bible books to YouTube. Join along as we read how the fledgling nation of Israel receives Jehovah's blessings when they do what is right, and how he raises up from among them Judges to save them from the oppressors around them.

Yahweh is probably the closest to utterance.
The Jews did not have a letter 'j' or a pronunciation of anything with 'j' in their lexicon. Anything we read in the bible starting with a 'J' was pronounced with a Y.
GOD's Name was never pronounced with a 'J'. And the Jews would know. After all, they WERE His witnesses, and still are.
They just need to get their heads out of the the Talmud and back into the TaNaKh.

I'm reading from an English translation of the Bible. Where names such as Joshua and John and Jesus are translated as such in English.

As for the Jews being God's people please read this thread I made about that subject awhile ago:

The nation of Israel became Jehovah's people when they came into a covenant relationship with him at the foot of Mount Sinai in the third moth of 1513 B. C. E. As soon as they made that covenant they broke it by performing calf worship while Moses was in the Holy Mountain. Can I suggest you read Romans 10 & 11. GOD's covenants are everlasting. We are the wild olive branch grafted in. We do not support the root. Replacement theology has perverted the word of GOD no end. Israel has suffered blindness in part until the fullness of the gentiles has been completed. The GOD turns His attention back to the Jews/Israel. This will be the 'Time of Jacob's Trouble'.
The Jews didn't kill Yeshua, the Romans did at the behest of the Sanhedrin. They wanted Him crucified because they wanted Him accursed by GOD ('Cursed is anyone who hangs on a tree').
Jesus knew His whole purpose was to come and die for humanity that by His blood, atonement for sin was made, and His righteousness imparted to all who believe. Justification by faith.Salvation through the death and resurrection of Christ on the cross, the Lamb of GOD who takes away the sin of the world.

The Mosiac Law Covenant was not an everlasting covenant. It was done away with when Jesus was nailed to the stake (tree) and the Jews (another word with J translated as such into English if you notice, and the name Jacob that you used in your post) were done away with as God's people.

The spiritual Israel is now the real offspring of Abraham. These are God's adopted sons. See: Who Are the 144,000? for a more in depth understanding of these things.

I like your spirit, and your basic understanding of the ransom. You are to be commended in your explanation and your faith in it. These other things are secondary, and while are truth, the more basic sacred secrets, such as who the Christ is, and exercising faith in his shed ransom is what is really necessary. If you want to justify your position, use the Bible, not the heretical teachings of Mr Russell your false prophet.

GOD told the Israelites at the end of Deuteronomy before they entered the promised land of the blessings and curses that would come through obeying Him. Before they even crossed into the land, He told them they would disobey and be kicked out of the land by |Him, and would RETURN.
Hebrew exists as a living, spoken language, and the Jews are resurrected as a nation in their own land after 2 millennia.
The Jews have to be in the land so that they can say 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' when Yeshuah returns and stands on the mount of Olives to rescue them.

Charles Russell didn't form a new religion, or make any new teachings. He just cut away at thousands of years of apostasy and pagan teachings that had crept into the apostate Christian congregation and went back to the "ancient roadways." That is they adhered to the Bible's standards and teachings on all things.


This is what Jehovah says:
“Stand at the crossroads and see.
Ask about the ancient roadways,
Ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
And find rest for yourselves.”
-Jeremiah 6:16.

Perhaps a little longer explanation is need to help open your eyes to these beauteous truths. Awhile ago I wrote a thread about the covenants and who have them. I recommend you read through it here:

There I speak about 5 specific covenants mentioned in the Bible:

(1) The Abrahamic Covenant
(2) The Law Covenant
(3) The New Covenant
(4) The Covenant for a Kingdom
(5) The Covenant for a Priesthood

Now some of these are everlasting covenants, in other words a promise, unilateral, and need nothing from anyone else for God to fulfill it, for example the Abrahamic Covenant. It is an everlasting covenant, and there is nothing any human needs to do for it to be kept in effect. Such was not the case of the Law Covenant. It was a bilateral contract. Jehovah said he would do certain things if the Israelites would do certain things. And the entire nation said they would at Mount Sinai and became Jehovah's covenant people. But they broke the covenant there on the holy mountain when Moses went up into it. And Jehovah had decided to do away with them as his covenant people at that time.

Let me share a passage here with you that shows the stipulations of the covenant and what would be the outcome:

"Then Moses went up to the true God, and Jehovah called to him from the mountain, saying: “This is what you are to say to the house of Jacob and to tell the Israelites, ‘You have seen for yourselves what I did to the Egyptians, in order to carry you on wings of eagles and bring you to myself. Now if you will strictly obey my voice and keep my covenant, you will certainly become my special property out of all peoples, for the whole earth belongs to me. You will become to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you are to say to the Israelites.”-Exodus 19:3-6.

Jehovah never made an everlasting covenant with them there at the holy mountain. He said "IF" they kept his laws, statues, judicial decisions, and commandments then they would become to him a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. But they DID NOT keep the covenant, and thus Jehovah rejected them as his people. Although he was very patient and merciful with them.

That promise that God told Moses, and notice this was before they entered into the covenant relationship with him. For that did not happen until after Moses had come down from the mountain and had told the people to wash their mantels and gather at the foot of the mountain where Jehovah appeared to them with a loud sound of a horn, and there was thick gloom and clouds on the mountain and lightnings and thunders and God's voice came from the thick gloom and gave the nation the commandments and they all agreed to the terms of the covenant and then asked Moses to go up into the mountain out of fear that God would strike them dead. So afterwards Moses went up into the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights and spoke with Jehovah. Meanwhile the people had Aaron make a golden statue of a calf and called it Jehovah and began to worship it. You can read a thread I wrote about that here:

And the covenant for a kingdom of priests was never EVER again mentioned to the natural nation of Israel. Jehovah decided right then and there to give it to a new nation, he calls it a foolish nation, or a people who is not a nation. He said that because his people had incited him to jealousy at the holy mountain by committed the gross sin of calf worship right after saying they wouldn't do it (thus breaking the contract, the covenant they made with Jehovah, and thus he was NO longer under obligation to keep it. Notice the contract was broken as soon as it was made). Then and there Jehovah said this:

"They have incited me to fury with what is not a god;
They have offended me with their worthless idols.
So I will incite them to jealousy with what is not a people;
I will offend them with a foolish nation."
-Deuteronomy 31:32.

It wasn't until the apostle Peter under inspiration that God revealed this sacred secret to the anointed Christian congregation. And writing his letter to both gentiles, that is people of the nations, and Jews who had converted to Christianity he wrote:

"But you are “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for special possession, that you should declare abroad the excellencies” of the One who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 For you were once not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not been shown mercy, but now you have received mercy."-1 Peter 2:9-10.

So the covenant for a nation of priests, that God suddenly never even mentions again, after the nation agreed to the Law Covenant, Jehovah reveals had been given to this "foolish nation." Yes, the anointed Christian congregation made up of people of all the nations. The Israel of God today is the anointed Christian congregation and is made up of the 144,000. And they come out of all the nations and peoples and language groups of the earth.

These will rule in heaven for the 1,000 year rule of Christ over the earth as kings and priests:

And they sing a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, for you were slaughtered and with your blood you bought people for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.”-Revelation 5:9-10.

"And he made us to be a kingdom, priests to his God and Father—yes, to him be the glory and the might forever. Amen."-Revelation 1:6.
