Israel union calls for general strike and Mass Protest against Netanyahu Tomorrow

Following the announced of the recovery of 6 dead hostages today the head of Israel's trade union federation Histadrut is joining a General strike tomorrow as families of the hostages call for mass protest to force Netanyahu to call a ceasefire and start hostage negotiations , after nearly 12 months of war Israelis want the government to do what it should have done last year , bring the hostages home before it's to late , sadly Netanyahu's blood lust and desire to stay out of prison has meant it's already too late for many.

Families of hostages are calling for a nationwide strike in an effort to force the Israeli government to negotiate for the release of hostages still held captive in Gaza.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum is asking the "public to join a massive demonstration, demanding a complete halt of the country and the immediate implementation of a deal to release the hostages".

It comes after the Israeli military found the bodies of six hostages in a tunnel in the southern Gaza city of Rafah on Saturday.

The campaign group is urging Israelis to demonstrate in Tel Aviv on Sunday and asked the country's powerful Histadrut union to participate in the strike, according to news agency AFP.

Several business are joining the strike with cinema chain Lev and restaurants saying they will close in solidarity on Sunday evening.

All of the Israeli Hostages are dead , Even if they are Alive they are dead already .

Blame someone if you must but Hamas will never let them live . I mean why would they ??

It's a no win Scenario for Hamas they know this. So those Hostages are as good as dead.

Agreed. The hostages were never coming back, the moment hostages are released Hamas loses credibility with their allies and sympathizers (not to mention leverage against israeli military response). Trading lives is always a distasteful proposition but it goes down easier if you guarantee every thug among their ranks pays the ultimate price for their crimes.

Who are the released hostages?

Israel is in a war right now, getting shot at by many countries terrorist organizations and the Israel union wants to have a strike and protests? I thought the Israel people were smarter than that.

Big protest tomorrow and a strike interfering with any weapons supplier or military suppliers could lead to a destruction of Israel right now. Well, they can shut down the Iron Dome in israel next week if they can't get supplies through.

Hamas is the problem, they never followed through with negotians with Israel for the release of prisoners. The only way those prisoners will be set free if Israel surrenders because Hamas sure has not taken peace negotiations to heart. Plus if Israel caves in to Hamas demands, every other country around will attack Israel to try to get israel gone .

Whatever happened to 'We never negotiate with terrorists'? Israel could always agree to a cease fire, get the hostages-or their bodies back-then level Gaza.

Live and let live does not apply to Hamas or any of the followers of radical Islam.

It's not wise to pick a fight with someone who's willing to finish it. Just pretend Israel is Ukraine and give them more money and arms.

Most are probably dead, and those they kept alive wish they were. The protesters are only one part of the Israeli population. My friends there are more realistic about it. The “pretty” women have been constantly raped. If they return, their faces will be scarred, as well as their minds. This goes for the men too, by the way. Even the children are raped, and they’ll have internal injuries - if they come home. All have been tortured, not for information, but for fun. Hamas sees anyone who doesn’t believe like they do are ANIMALS. Lower than the low.

It drives me absolutely crazy when people in other countries buy into the “marketing” that Hamas supporters have done. “Oh those poor suppressed people!”, “Israel is the monster!”, etc. Israel is fighting Evil Incarnate and no one realizes it.

This is just my opinion based on actually knowing people who live there, whose kids are in the military, and what they’ve been through for YEARS. If it’s not yours, then okay, go back to your brainwashing on the tv.

Latest news says that over 500.000 People attended demonstrations yesterday with more planned for today , rumours that the general strike will continue tomorrow putting more pressure on Netanyahu.

"what it should have done" .... Yeah right .... give Hamas and the Palestinians whatever they want to bring the hostages home ... and that would mean that Hamas and the Palestinians would be free to attack Israel again and again and again, and take more hostages in the future. They'd be right back in the same place they are now.

Blindly giving in to Hamas/Palestinian demands just to get hostages returned is the wrong thing to do.

Hamas and the Palestinians have promised never to stop attacking Israel .. never to stop trying to genocide the Jews ... never to stop until Israel is destroyed and the Jews are all dead. Giving them everything they want in return for a few dozen hostages doesn't make sense. That is the exact opposite of what should be done.

By some happy coincident, today it is Labor Day in the U.S. That would make yesterday's time adjusted day, U.S. Labor day in Israel.

The AFL (American Federation of Labor) endorsed the Balfour Declaration in 1917, pretty much as soon as it was made public.

U.S. labor and Israel labor have a long history as allies.

Netanyahu will hold a news conference at 6.15pm UK time , about an hour from now.

I’m replying to my own post because I can’t edit to add.

I got an email from my Rabbi that was sent to the whole congregation. I’m going to past some of it here:

“ Today I am heartbroken. The news broke that six hostages were found dead. By that night, we learned that they all had been recently shot. Six young people who were taken from the Nova music festival and managed to survive in unthinkable conditions were shot probably the day before they were found.

When will Israel and the world learn? In the 90s and 2000s, as part of rabbinic missions, we would meet with PLO leadership in the West Bank. Their walls were covered with maps of Israel except the land mass was green and had Palestine written over it. I remember walking out after our meetings saying to colleagues “They are naïve, That isn’t going to happen.” Right in front of us we saw the truth. They wanted a Palestinian state that encompasses all of Israel. I bring this up because a number of weeks ago an order was issued that if Hamas was being attacked, they should kill their hostages. Why didn’t Israel believe that would happen? It did.

For months we have stated that there are no words to express our sorrow, our grief, our disbelief. How can we hold the enormous pain of this loss and hold fear for those who remain in captivity?”

Israelis on the streets again , the General Strike was halted by Israel's courts.

The instinct for self preservation generally outweighs the impulse to throw your life away because moral outrage and violent traditions. If it doesn't.... Too bad indeed.
