Manhunt underway in Arizona for suspect who threatened to kill Trump as he lands in border state

The Cochice County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as 66-year-old Ronald Lee Syvrud. 

The sheriff’s office said Syvrud has outstanding warrants from the state of Wisconsin for DUI, failure to appear for DUI and from Graham County, Arizona, for hit-and-run and felony failure to register as a sex offender. 

The sheriff’s office said it also has an absconder hold for Syvrud for failing to register as a sex offender. 

The sheriff's office posted on Facebook that Syvrud is being sought "as an investigative lead for threats to kill a presidential candidate." Fox News Digital later confirmed that the "presidential candidate" is Trump.

Trump is visiting Cochise County, Arizona, Thursday while continuing to campaign for the November election. He's been spending the week campaigning across battleground states. 

The U.S. Secret Service told Fox News Digital it is aware of and tracking the manhunt in Arizona and referred all further inquiries to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office for further comments, including potential ties to Butler.

The suspect Ronald Lee Syvrud

Trump just did a press conference from the Arizona/Mexico border with the secret service putting additional snipers up on a warehouse cherry picker machine with the recent threat on Trumps life.

I kept flipping from Fox (who carried the entire press conference and showed constant updates on the manhunt and the suspects picture) to CNN to MSNBC because I was curious if they would show Trumps press conference or mention the manhunt for Robert Lee Syvrud and show his picture but I didn't see CNN or MSNBC show Trumps press conference or pictures of the suspect at all.

ALL CNN & MSNBC is talking about is how great the DNC is going and how good Walz did last night. These networks just do everything single thing they can to control the election.

That's how you brainwash a nation.

With this guy's history it's easy to see which party he embraces-and which party embraces the likes of him.

It would be weird if another Republican tried to kill the former president, but with this guy I don't think it really matters. He's just a criminal. That's why they are taking the threat seriously, because of his background.

Syvrud weighed two hundred and twenty pounds, was six feet tall, and wore spectacles. Benson, Arizona was given as his last known residence. Syvrud was sought for a number of other offenses in addition to the threat of assassination, including driving while intoxicated (DUI), failing to appear in court in Wisconsin, failing to register as a sex offender, and felony hit-and-run in Arizona.

DUI is a misdemeanor, failing to appear also; but a registered sex offender? And felony hit and run? A criminal in multiple states.

I'd take his threats seriously too. Hope he's found soon.

Maybe he did, seems like a nice guy who cares. The problem is he lied about something serious, and as Governor he has been about as radical as one can get, those are the issues with him.

His Secret Service detail says where and when he can go and only if they can arrange protection. Nobody ever took a shot at Biden or Harris and Biden ran his campaign from a basement and Harris hasn't had a press conference in...what ? a month now ?

It's just like a liberal to stick with the first, much publicized version that Crooks was a MAGA supporter, then totally ignore the investigative evidence showing he poest pro conservative dogma until the age of 12 on social media; after that he switched to pro-liberal and hating on Republicans.

What do you want to bet there will be a week or two of coverage saying Syvrud 'appears' to be a MAGA supporter, then a brief release of facts after investigating his public profile showing he' a lib who htes Trump and a new crisis will be mains stream news kicking the truth to the oblivian again.

We've seen this game play over and over and over, yet the same simpletons still fall for it.

Unlike Crokks, this guy is still with us which suppoorts the theory that he's just another messed up sicko and probably wasn't groomed for his task.

Another possibility; if they can get a whacko like him to show up at every Trump rally for the promise of a few hundred bucks when the real assassin hits the mark they can just blame it on all those mentally ill members of society.

I'm going to be the first person here to say I don't give a # about threats to presidential candidate, I care that he's a sex offender on the lamb and one more DUI could cost lives if he's not captured. But he's in custody now and that's the last we hear of him.

I would assume that since he is an unregistered sex offender he would naturally be more comfortable in the political party full of sexual deviants.
