I don't recall either of the Obama's lecturing anyone on the evils of greed

Obama: Wall Street 'Arrogance and Greed' Won't Be Tolerated

Um, The banks were ripping off homeowners, through bad loans. They were sued, and forced to pay billions back to homeowners and in fines.

Obama never said that capitalism was bad, or that hard work leading to financial success equals corruption and greed.

I haven't seen any examples of the Obama's blatant hypocrisy

Obama's $400,000 Wall Street speaking fee will undermine everything he believes in

So, there it is. If Obama gets paid for public appearances, he's a hypocrite who has sold out his values. I say "BS!"! Acceptiing speaking fees is not evidence of corruption or greed.

the liberty and freedom they inspire

Obama says the government must regulate speech

He's not alone. But you do support the MAGA Republicans, that are seeking to censor speech on the internet, as well as banning books from school and public libraries, right? www.nbcnews.com...

You asked a question. I answered it. I don't see any evidence of the Obama's hypocrisy, corruption or greed, that you're trying to get me to admit exists. I'm just not seeing it.

I don't see how their acquired wealth makes the Obama less worthy or respect and admiration.

Depends on how they got it.
They've kept at least 70 million.
All while spending piles of it.
How'd they make that much money?
If it's on the up and up .. fine.
But most politicians acquire it through sleeze.

How is that any of your business?

The Obama's have been out of the White House for 8 years. They're private citizens, and their finances are their business.

I don't know how the Bush's spend their money, or how the Cheney's spend their money, and I don't care. Do you?

YOU said - I don't see how their acquired wealth makes the Obama less worthy or respect and admiration.

MY response was - It depends on how they got it.

If we are discussing if their wealth makes them less worthy of respect and admiration, then the way they made their wealth plays into that and is part of the discussion.

MANY politicians make their money the sleezy and corrupt way.

And if that's how he did it, then that is indeed part of our business in answering the question.

Is that how we judge all rich people? Or are we just now, today, scrutinizing the Obama's wealth, because they rocked the stage at the DNC Convention the other night?

The Obama's are global rock stars. Their rise to fame doesn't surprise me or make me question their values. Their wealth and access to power is a given, since he was POTUS for 8 years.

Unless you've got, oh I don't know, something like Obama using his power to short stock, say Boeing, to make quick 10 million...
www.marketwatch.com...

I mean, I'm just not seeing the greed and corruption.

i didn't say that their wealth made them less worthy of respect.
I said that their utter dishonesty and hypocrisy does. Do you not see it? What are you missing here?
They are among the wealthiest 1% of people on the planet, and they give morality lectures on the evils of greed.
That's why I said it's a joke. IT IS LITERALLY A JOKE. They must be trolling.

That is, of course, unless you're suggesting that they somehow abandoned the very values that they promote to gain that wealth.

What values? Money and celebrity? They have no ethics or morals, imo. Prove me wrong. Show me some examples of what wonderful human beings they are.

One example of Michelle's thought train:

I'm not seeing the up side to her message. It's funny in a sad kind of way when a politician comes out dressed in clothes and jewely that is almost as much as what plenty of working class people struggle 6 months to earn and then tell us they know their pain.

You are making the critical conservative mistake of speaking to the left based on common sense and critical thinking.

That tree ain't got a coon in it; not even a dessicated carcass.

The liberal mind-virus atrophies the capacity for self-awareness and critical thinking. (It kills the ability to process humor, as well, but that would be for another thread.)

So, yeah, calling out these benighted souls; you'd just as soon be preaching to rocks or fence posts. These are the people who will gladly pay for the rope that will be used to hang them.

It's interesting how your message about others lacking self-awareness might actually reflect your own stance. It’s a bit like catching a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and realizing you've been wearing your hat backwards all along. Perhaps the qualities you attribute to others are something to ponder more personally?

Nope!

I am self-aware.

Also, I am capable of critical thinking.

Add to that the fact that I have a sense of humour and can laugh at irony. For example, I caught a real belly laugh reading your reply.

That's a fairly accurate summation of the history of humanity.

Obama loves Capitalism. For him. For the peasant citizens, however, he recommends socialism and government control.

He NEVER misses a chance to denigrate hard-working, self-reliant, business owners. He loves to say disparaging things about self-made, successful people. He literally gets off on it.

that's refreshing to hear. So we no longer have to hear about Kushner's Saudi money, or Trump's money. It's thier personal busieness. Good on you.
