Federal agents descended on a Huntly property Tuesday and have maintained a steady presence there since.

“The FBI conducted court-authorized law enforcement activity. We have no further comment as this is an ongoing matter,” FBI spokesperson Samantha Shero emailed the Rappahannock News Wednesday night in response to a request for information about the situation.

Two agents met a reporter at the gate of the property at 69 Twin Post Lane, off Hillsboro Road about 4.5 miles north of Flint Hill, Wednesday evening and confirmed the FBI was on site. A roll of yellow crime scene tape was on the ground next to the gate post.

So far this is a very small story. It looks like it's only being reported by a couple of local news outlets. However, it has the potential to grow into something much bigger.

The "well-known Russia expert" in question is Dimitri Simes. Simes has been a fixture in DC for decades, at one time acting as CEO of the Center for the National Interest, think tank founded by Nixon.

Simes has close ties to both Trump and Russian spy Maria Butina. These connections made him a target of the Mueller probe but it was ultimately decided he was not acting as a go-between for the Trump campaign and Moscow.

Neighbors have said that the FBI have been at Simes' property since Tuesday and since then trailers of recovered materials have left.

At this time details about the nature of the investigation are non-existent but I'd be willing to say it's a safe bet to say it's related to Simes' connections to Russian intelligence.

With how long Simes has been around and with how much the FBI are taking from his residence, this has the potential to have wide-reaching impact.

Is he alive?

Is this a way to try and set up Trump?

Or is the current administration trying to look more competent? As in we caught a Russian spy.

These days Simes spends most of his time in Russia where he hosts the political talk show Great Game.

The article states Simes is currently out of the country. So, I assume that means he's in Russia.

Honestly, don't quite get what your asking.

That said, so much crazy bs is going on these days!

After the last 9 years, the elites are not pulling punches now. They have tried weirder things in the past, why not now?
