What I know is that recruiting is become a way for gender reassignment opportunities for trans, that is what our military has become.

A way for free hormone treatments and genital mutilations.

No wonder they can not fight anymore.

Still I know that the budget for weapons is still high and in demand, just check the military contracts, they are still lucrative for private companies

I think it started to really decline during the Clinton administration. That’s when the big push to downsize happened.

Certainly started things up
Build it up rip it down build it up - big money gravy train

The ball really got rolling though more recently

This isn't a question of the US' defensive capabilities. The simple fact of the matter is that outside of a nuke exchange, the US mainland is secure. No countries or alliance of countries have the capability to launch a successful invasion of the US.

The question is whether or not the US could sustain something akin to a WWII invasion of Europe. And, we probably couldn't. But that ultimately comes comes down to us having a peacetime economy.

And quintessentone's mention of NATO is relevant. In a large scale, WWII style war, we would be relying on our NATO allies to shore up or deficiencies. Just like we relied on the Allies in WWII.

You don't know your history at all. The US didn't rely on its allies during WWII, they relied on the US. We sent civilian rifles over to the UK because they didn't have enough weapons for protecting their island. Europe was a bombed out mess from the German advance. The US wasn't being bombed daily so guess who was supplying Europe? Stop attempting to rewrite history to fit your narrative.
As it is we are doubly screwed because for years almost all of our high-tech toys have either Russian made or Chinese made chips in them. I know because I worked for a electronic company that bought the junk and was using it for the targeting system for fighter jets. All because they were cheap. Well that couldn't blow up in our faces could it?

Europe does not get liberated without a concerted effort between all the Allies.

Do you think Berlin would've fell if the US was on its own?

And who had to pick up the shortfall in production? Pointing out it was US manufacturing that supplied the European allies with weapons and supplies. No of course Berlin needed Russias help to be taken out. The US was ALSO fighting Japan, you know facing two threats at once! Care to reevaluate your stance?

Kind of begs the question why would the US be fighting Germany? They took in as many Nazis as they could find 👍

You need taxes to pay for a military. Remind me again who the last president was that reduced taxes?

You need common sense spending to pay for a military.
Remind me again who the last president was that was a tax and over spend POTUS?
Biden/Obama.

Hmmm, the facts don't back you up
Here's a quote from a recent article by Newsweek

President Bill Clinton was indeed the first—and only—president in recent history to reduce the total deficit during his time in office, recording a $128.2 billion budget surplus as he left in 2001.

After President George W. Bush took over, the budget deficit skyrocketed more than tenfold, leaving office with $1.41 trillion dollars in the red. President Barack Obama brought that down to a more manageable $665 billion, before President Donald Trump widened it by nearly 2 trillion to $2.77 trillion in 2021.

clearly said this issue is under every administration in recent history, because the military isn't adapting to advances in technology by the rest of the world and also probably because our birth rate is falling behind multiple nations so at least ten will be able to field bigger militaries than us pretty soon, so our number advantage and technology advantage are withering away fast.

why you trying to make this a partisan issue? that's exactly why we have this issue and numerous other issues, because people in both parties sabotaging the good things the other has done, especially Republicans in southern states that think no taxes or infrastructure or public services are a good idea. how can we have anything with no willingness to spend money on anything? with both parties actively sabotaging the American people how can anything get done?

unfortunately we seem to be too stupid to recognize who the real problem is and vote an entirely new party system into power that better represents our real interests, too enamored with sensationalism to think properly when election time comes.

If you have ever served, you learn quickly, for better or worse, democrats cut military spending, and republicans increase it. Spending won't solve the current issue, getting WOKE bullsh!t out of the military will. Warfighters need to be focused on one thing, winning wars. Politicians should be focused on not starting any.
