No, it has to do with certain states like Ohio's cutoff for getting the nominee on the state ballot. If they wait until the DNC they will miss the cutoff for their candidate to be on the ballot. Now ask yourself this, if they are so disorganized to have scheduled their convention and nomination until after state cutoffs for getting your candidate on the ballot do you really want them running the country?

My first thought was why on earth would they schedule something so important AFTER any cutoff issues. Doesn’t anyone do research or look at the calendar? If it were a business, the person in charge would have been fired.

The “DNC Party” Will Complete the Nomination/Appointment of Kamala Harris on Thursday – Harris is the Only Candidate Eligible for Nomination
The process is now clear, and the timeline was just announced; but there is a surprise.
The DNC will nominate and confirm Kamala Harris as the official Democrat nominee for President on Thursday, August 1st.
Kamala Harris is the only candidate on the DNC party nomination ballot – her win is assured.
However, unless something radically changes in the next 24 hours, not likely, there will be no vice-president nominee on the official DNC nomination ticket!
Apparently, it looks like the DNC is choosing to use the convention in Chicago, as the opportunity to announce and celebrate the appointed Vice-President nominee.

Vice President Kamala Harris has won enough votes from Democratic delegates to win the party’s nomination for president, Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison announced Friday.
Harris will become the first Black woman and first Asian American to lead a major-party ticket.
The announcement came during a virtual event with supporters Friday. Delegates began casting virtual ballots for the nomination Thursday, a process that will continue until Monday evening.
“I am honored to be the presumptive Democratic nominee for president of the United States,” said Harris, who joined the virtual event. “I will officially accept your nomination next week, once the virtual voting period is closed.”
