China has once again extended its policy of censorship and surveillance as it looks to keep artificial intelligence (AI) models in check even as it races to advance the ever-expanding technology.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has introduced more regulative measures to make sure its home-based tech companies adhere to the party’s ideological rules.

All AI firms are required to participate in a government review which analyzes the companies' large language models (LLMs) to ensure they "embody core socialist values," as first reported by the Financial Times last week.

A serious question for you :- don't you think that the western worlds countries are using AI for their own ends? No matter what China does is as nothing, Pandora's box is open and it will go where it may. And that includes all and every country using AI for their own benefit no matter how dangerous they are told it could be.

I mean I live in a nation where 1/3 of the country thought the former president was installed by a foreign government. We are still clueless about the most deadly mass shooting in our history. The families of 9/11 victims are still routinely stonewalled by our government.

Americans are undoubtedly the most propagandized people on the planet. We have to be because if most Americans truely understood what their government was doing at home and abroad there would be a revolution tomorrow.

Nvidia,being a Taiwan based company,have hopefully thought ahead and at least built in some handy back door access/kill switch capabilities into these chips for the chinese market.

Serious answer;

I know Western counties are using it, just look at the thread DARPA AI .mil, and see, but it's not used for same reasons. Not saying such isn't being done, China got the idea somehow.

Hell just like when Militaries went digital on their uniforms, any County worth a damn followed suit and went digital camo also.

So too with AI.

Just look at the world, and how it's not getting better.

Why are there still the same feed the starving children commercials, I've seen since the 80s?

With so many billionaire people, they could feed the world, repair schools, fix the damn roads, shelter the homeless, pay medical expenses and still be F'n billionaires!
Why force communism, its not needed.

Greed, ego and selfish priorities, are holding it off.

Why are they always asking working class to donate, forcing unrepresented tax's on people, and giving all the foreign aid to countries that hate us? Let them hate us for free.

Give that for the homeless, here in America.
Why can't We the People, fix our own Country, before wasting resources trying to fix some body else's...

I'm not sure if you are a reader but I'd take a look at Frank Herberts Dune series .

It really goes in depth on Artificial Intelligence . The Dune world is shaped around the after-math of a massive AI War and while yes the books are fiction . There is still a lot of insight on the possibilities and eventualities of AI.

That’s a good Skynet.
