Hello ATS!

Recently, the Russian Orthodox Church put forward an initiative to ban sorcerers, witches, Satanists, astrologers, occultists, shamans and other “otherworldly” servants.

“The provision of services of an occult and magical nature should be prohibited by law,” emphasized the chairman of the Patriarchal Commission of the Russian Orthodox Church on family issues, protection of motherhood and childhood, Priest Theodore Lukyanov (rector of the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Petrovsky Park and the Church of St. Mitrophan of Voronezh on Khutorskaya, member Synodal Commission on Bioethics) at the conference at the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation "Cooperation in the field of psychological health of representatives of the scientific, pedagogical and religious community based on traditional spiritual and moral values."

During the scientific-practical conference, the clergyman also spoke about “the need to filter the educational environment from the admixtures of the occult, demonism and other destructive activities.” Father mentioned the master's program in esotericism of the Russian State Humanitarian University (RGGU): “In this program, teachers and students immerse themselves in the world of occult knowledge, study the mystical experience of sorcerers, magicians, spiritualists - obviously in practice, we don’t know, of course - explore demons and etc., are engaged in demonology. Such programs pose a real threat to the religious, spiritual, moral and psychological safety of both students and teachers themselves.” Lukyanov also recalled the attempt by the Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining of Personnel of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) to open an educational program in astrology in 2021. According to the Patriarchal Commission of the Russian Orthodox Church on family issues, protection of motherhood and childhood, cases of inclusion in higher and additional professional education programs of disciplines related to occult-esoteric harmful nonsense have become more frequent.

In April, Russian State Duma deputy Nikolai Nikolaev called for the exclusion of any mention of astrologers, sorcerers, palmists and other occult figures from all legal acts, laws and official documents. In an interview with RuNews24, the deputy drew attention to the fact that today the terminology of the occult industry is present in the Russian regulatory framework; certain legal documents are replete with the concepts of “astrologer”, “services of an occult-magical nature”, “palm readers”, “spiritualists” and “mediums”: “The services of these servants of the occult were included, for example, in the all-Russian classifiers of products by type of economic activity. Sorcerers and witches even penetrated into the law on health care. Article 50 of the document calls the provision of services of an occult-magical nature an exception and classifies them as folk medicine. Meanwhile, any mention in legal acts legalizes magic as a business activity." According to Nikolaev, “unhindered activity brings income to magicians and palmists, and belief in it and other pseudoscientific ideas harms the interests of citizens, their health and well-being.”“A medium is someone who calls the spirits of the dead. By fixing such services in legislation or in the regulatory framework, the state agrees that it is possible to speak with spirits,” he added.

Nikolaev sent a call to exclude the terminology of the occult industry from the legal framework to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. But in response, a refusal came from the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation - the department believes that it is inappropriate to exclude the occult from the legislation.

In November last year, Russian State Duma deputy Alexander Spiridonov, in a conversation with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, promised to prepare a bill banning the activities of “sorcerers, witches and other charlatans.”

“The ideas are more than sound, but the market for fooling people has a very powerful roof and a huge turnover of money. So it is unlikely that the army of tarot readers/numerologists/parapsychologists will be left without work,” notes RIA Katyusha.

I would like to note that there is almost a 100% probability that this initiative will be supported by the authorities. As has always happened.

Thank you.

Another reason to never go to Russia.

Remember, if they float they are a witch.

Will this ban Harry Potter films and books?

Will there be a Witchfinder General?

Sounds like more authoritarian repression.

Wonder why they decided to stop there and not just make a law saying everyone has to be Russian Orthodox. Set the number of required trips to church a year and make sure people are tithing.

I feel like what is considered occult, demonic, ect is in the eye of the beholder who pushed for the law. Maybe rock music will be considered demonic.

Did Putin personally tell you about this? Or did you learn this from the tabloids?

Who are they? Your opening post does not include any common Russian people's desires about banning the occult only the church's and certain elites/authority figures?

What about psi research in the government, will that be thrown to the wayside too?

I was wondering the same. Next, ban all other religions.

Perhaps, round up all folk with alternative faiths and put them in in camps? That sort of thing?

Rings a bell.

Thanks for the advice, but dictatorship is the methods of the communists and globalists who now rule in the West.

Yes but they directly reference a leaked memo from Russia's secret intelligence(?) agency. Doesn't Putin okay everything in his government?

The plan is to be overseen by General Alexander Komov, a deputy director in the Federal Protective Service, with an unnamed source in the Kremlin's security service saying that Komov harbors a deep interest in astrology and pseudo-science, according to The Insider.

Insider was unable to independently verify the authenticity of these claims.

The Russian government's press service and Federal Protective Service did not respond to Insider's requests for a comment.

I don't know such an agency. However, like most of the world.
If you want to know a person's opinion, ask him first. Don't use fake publications.

I think leaked information works very well.

There's some illustrious company to join.

[The punishment for doing spiritual healing sessions in Saudi Arabia]

So, how did Saudi authorities prove Nasser was a witch? The government hasn’t gone into detail, but a look at the kingdom’s past witchcraft cases suggests the bar for proving someone guilty isn’t very high. Witch hunting is fairly institutionalized in Saudi Arabia, with the country’s religious police running an Anti-Witchcraft Unit and a sorcery hotline to combat practices like astrology and fortune telling that are considered un-Islamic.

Is it going to be a BRICS thing?
