I think that most of my UK friends are tucked up in bed by now, but I’m still up and checking the votes as they come in.

At the time of writing, and with just over 100+/650 seats declared, it’s going to be a landslide victory for the Labour party.

Turnout has been low and it’s obvious that the electorate has fallen out of love with politics. Those that wanted to vote Labour have cast their votes; Conservative supporters, who won’t vote for their party, stayed at home.

The results will be a moving target over the next 4/5 hours, but from what I’m seeing, it can only get worse and worse for the Tories, haemorrhaging seats everywhere… the blood flows, and it is blue.

Turnout has been low and it’s obvious that the electorate is disenfranchised. Those that wanted to vote Labour have cast their votes; Conservative supporters, who won’t vote for their party, stayed at home.

Kind of ironic this popping on July 4th America's Independence day...

Sounds like a mandate from the masses, what shifts in policy should we expect

Somewhere, in a dimly lit room filled with cigar smoke, four gentlemen sit around a Victorian oak table. Their faces obscured by the shadows, reason that now is the time. "While Joe Biden is still President, we can retake the colonies!"

It would appear that the attempt that started a decade ago to grab mindshare, has now clearly failed.

LOL.

A bad night for the Country but a good night for Reform UK , I look forward to seeing their share of the vote.
In my Constituency Reform came 2nd to Labour by just 7,000 votes.

From little acorns mighty Oaks do grow.

Sunak to give his final speech outside No 10 shortly, could possibly announce his resignation as Tory leader.

Yep, here it is...

I thought it was quite eloquent, but lacking in emotion.

Starmer coming up next after he sees King Charles.

The Uk system of voting is possibly the least democratic way of holding an election.

Reform gained just 4 seats but they got over 4 million votes, the Liberal Democrats have 70 seats but they only got 3.5 million votes..
Labor have among there biggest wins ever, yet have little public support.

Probably time to start learning to speak Russian or arabic.

First thing is to see how many pennies are left in the piggy bank. Other than that, I don't have a clue.

Probably best to ask Larry...

Just announced Reform UK has taken South Basildon and East Thurrock taking their tally to 5 seats.

Reform UK has taken South Basildon and East Thurrock, giving the party five seats in the House of Commons.

James McMurdock won the seat with a majority of 98 votes after a full recount.

After the announcement, Reform party leader Nigel Farage was filmed speaking to Mr McMurdock on the phone.

He said: "Epic. All I can tell you now, as an elected politician, is your life is ruined completely. Congratulations!"

First past the post is fine when its a two horse race.
Now there's more parties gaining support its blatantly obvious that something has to change if our elected assembly is to be representative of the people's choice.

Unfortunately I doubt any drastic reform will happen soon.
Labour will obviously be quite content with it at present and they'll hope that support for Reform fizzles out.

And to be fair both the LibDems and Greens also seem to gaining support.

The two traditional major parties will want to maintain the status quo and I suspect they'll be collaborating behind the scenes to see how they can stifle the growth and influence of those other parties.
