Secret Service agent robbed at gunpoint during Biden’s L.A. fundraiser

This brings up an interesting point, do you believe crime is up or down Nationally and locally in your area? Pew Research has some interesting news

www.pewresearch.org...

www.washingtonpost.com...

A Secret Service agent was robbed at gunpoint in Los Angeles on the same night President Biden visited the city for a fundraiser over the weekend, police said.

The Tustin Police Department said in a statement released Monday that officers responded to a call of a possible robbery shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday at a residential community in Orange County, and that the Secret Service agent’s bag was stolen at gunpoint.

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement that the employee was “returning from a work assignment” when the robbery took place.

“The employee discharged their service weapon during the incident but unknown if the assailants were struck,” Guglielmi said, adding that the agent was not injured.

Tustin police similarly said that an “officer(agent)” fired a gun during the robbery, without giving further detail.

It was not immediately clear whether the agent was working for Biden, first lady Jill Biden or former president Barack Obama, who were also at the event. The president’s immediate family and former presidents have Secret Service protection for life. The Secret Service did not immediately respond to an early Tuesday request for comment on whom the agent protected.

this one will be difficult to hand wave away.

Crime really isn't a big issue, in fact, some crimes are going down. Sure the reason is the prosecutors aren't prosecuting them, but regardless, the numbers are good. Just rememebr not to go out after dark.

They just covered this on Fox news.

The robbery was an hour after Biden left and the agent was almost at their home at the time after the fundraiser. The location was outside Los Angelis and not at the fundraiser as reported above. There is no information about what the 'bag' contained or if it was just a briefcase. If may have had the agents vest and other protective and operating gear. Some of the stolen items were recovered in the area so the robbers did not find much of the haul useful foe them to keep.

No information on any injuries caused by the agents shots but several shots were fired.

Sounds like a local secret service agent was robbed and not the regular presidential protection agents.

The agent discharged his weapon. So he had enough time to draw and shoot.

Huh.

All this time, I thought SS agents were like the biggest bad*&^'s that could disarm a man in the blink of an eye, and take them down without breaking a sweat.

Boy, he should really be catching hell from the other agents over this.

Yeah, something like 20,000 police departments stopped reporting their crime stats to the FBI in 2022.

So, would i be correct in thinking that the agent fired at the robber after the fact and as he was running away?

He believed that whatever was in his briefcase was more valuable than a life?

“The employee discharged their service weapon during the incident but unknown if the assailants were struck,”

Attempts to shoot the thief in the back?
He would have known he shot him if they were facing each other.
I am not trying to belittle the agent's actions, we don't know all the facts.

But thats a first impression, a strong one. A probable one.

Or he just fired to make himself appear more, i dunno, capable? Not so weak as to be robbed on the street?
I read this and immediate thought comes to mind that if the thief was running away and the guy fired at him, his life was in no danger whatsoever then.
So why shoot?

Just for discussion, i understand we havn't all the facts

Yes, theyre not convicting them and not reporting them. Thats how dems solve problems. Homelessness? Education? Same policy. Throw money at their friends to "look into it," and nothing is done. Probably doesnt help that they've labeled any actual solutions as racist lol. You know... math, fathers in the home, actually convicting criminals, stopping drug use, etc

Not surprising. In the heat of the moment it's easy to miss.

I remember living across the street from a drug dealer. They were constantly shooting at him. He only got hit once.

I notice many of you are saying " HE " as in the Secret Service agent was a Male .

No where in the article does it say the Agent was a Male , It simply says ' Employee ' or "Agent ' . Which means almost certainly the Agent was a Female.

A Female is far more likely to be targeted for a Robbery . Clearly the Robbers had no idea the person was a Secret Service Agent , though it is not beyond the stupidity of a Criminal to ignore that fact.

Females in Law Enforcement and or the Military are 98% of the time a bad idea from start to finish .

One could argue that, the thief put his own life on the line to steal. Maybe they don't value their own life?
