Have any of y'all played around with Microsoft Copilot either as part of your searches or as part of your edge browser and found that this AI tool is unwilling or unable to provide information or discussion relating to the 2024 USA presidential election?

I have found that Copilot refuses to answer questions or entertain discussion revolving around the election beyond one or two questions, even going as far as suggesting " we start a new topic of discussion".

Very odd....

Is this a form of a technological bug, political filtering, or other?

Just try using Copilot to dig dipper into a controversial subject relating to Biden or Trump.

I've never even entertained the idea of using co-pilot. We already know how AI is programmed to steer conversation and topics, so why pretend like it has any real value for honest web searches?

How can we see some actual examples especially if it's "Partisan" ? 😀

I wouldn’t say it is specifically partisan, as my attempts to dig into both Biden and Trump, as well as both the DNC and GOP on controversial issues have been stonewalled.

I recommend disabling co-pilot as soon as possible. I was just reading about an issue with co-pilot where it regularly takes screenshots of your activity and feeds it into the AI.

I noticed it installed itself on my streaming server so I tested it out and asked it to help me build a gun. When it suggested I change the subject, I disabled it. I don't want any AI behind my firewall and it's pretty much useless to me. I will be switching that machine to Linux when I have the time.

It's always seemed odd to me (every time I have heard someone mention it) that people get in actual dialogues with the AI assistant like they ran out of humans to converse with. Why are you annoyed at a toy for not being intelligent? It's obviously a simulation and a very boring one. Time to unplug.

It is too easy for one side or another to be partisan.

Placing a block on such discussion removes the possibility of the platform being used inappropriately.

I'm sure the block would be removed after the election result is known.

Also, would you trust a program to give an unbiased evaluation?

So you think free speech is inappropriate and censorship is appropriate? Hmmm. Makes sense.

Do you realize how easy you are with authoritarian control?

I’m sure if the right had it they would use it, but right now, in the times we live in, the left are turning into despots.

Easily wielding authoritarianism without thinking. Oh just censor.

A farrrrr cry of the left from the 70’s which was about free thought, free love, freedom from ‘the man"

The left is now "the man" and worse than the right ever was.

So you think that free speech is impinged, and that you don't already fully know what is going on, from multiple sources?

Or that the compilation of a randomising accumulator of anonymous opinions will add anything worthwhile to the debate?

AI is the marketing term. Same as "cloud", as in "put it on the cloud" (referring to cloud computing). What we call AI is actually Machine Learning, which is not quite the same thing as AI. Machine Learning is inherently insecure from a privacy and security perspective. The way the models work requires access to big data to be able to learn and get better and better. There are serious cyber security concerns with this technology.
