"This audio was inadvertently misrouted from an ongoing simulation where
crew members and ground teams train for various scenarios in space and
is not related to a real emergency," it said on the ISS X page."

How can they send out this message by mistake?
I dont think it was a test message.

Did china or russia fire a small rock at high speed?
and try to make it look like a asteroid!
did people die?

Yes they would Realy tell us if it killed off the crew.
lets see what rockets go up or come down.
whats that US secret shuttle doing now?
or have they wipe't that from history?

Accidents do happen occasionally, 40 plus years ago I was working in a small village police station and my foot caught a button on a archaic war broadcast system .

Everything in that area received that broadcast ,television, radio everything, and I got my backside chewed big time for that simple little mistake

Years before that some clown had pulled the same stunt on national television www.independent.co.uk...

Accidents do happen, agreed.

In this case, with all the technical issues, and now the delay in return, it seems a little more shady.

Lets hope they are not refusing the astronauts return to Earth due to the space evolved drug resistant superbug that has been evolving on the ISS over the years..

ISS astronauts exposed to mutant superbugs that evolved in space

Study suggests 13 strains of a drug-resistant bacterium have mutated under stress of space environment and become genetically distinct from their Earth counterparts

That sounds like the start of a scary scifi movie!
Hopefully not related.

Your post reminds me of a movie I can't find now.

It is B Grade Scifi with Bruce Campbell (in a b grade scifi?!) and Billy Baldwin. They returned to Earth after years away. After trouble landing bc there was no ground control, they discover humanity has been enslaved by insect aliens...that really look like praying mantis.

It is a good, crappy movie. Add in a nice black cherry sparkling water, and a tight packed indica water pipe and it is even better.

To the OP:

I really don't think it is that nefarious at all. Scenarios like that are practiced all the time.

What gives me pause:

They scrubbed the launch multiple times for malfunctions.

They had trouble docking with the ISS.

They pushed the return back until 6-22.

And the big one.....

When those scenarios are practiced, usually they are run with those on board the ISS, it is training and muscle memory for an actual emergency. So the astronauts being asleep at the time it was going on, doesn't make sense to me.

But then I don't understand much in this world anymore.

I once accidentally triggered the Emergency Broadcast System Alert over the airwaves of an AM radio station! LOL! So it does happen.

"Hmmmm...I wonder what THIS button does???

Hmmmph...doesn't seem like it does anything...that's weird!
"

(phone lines start lighting up all over the place)

"Hello? .... No, there's no emergency that I'm aware of, why do you ask? ...... WHAT???? FROM THIS STATION??? ARE YOU SURE??? HOLY (insert string of expletives)!!!"

Program Director (Boss) calls up, (sounds like he's having an aneurysm while simultaneously giving birth to a full grown rhinoceros.)..."OF COURSE YOU CAN'T HEAR IT INSIDE THE STUDIO, YOU IDIOT!! TURN IT OFF!! ON THE PANEL BEHIND YOU, 3RD SWITCH FROM THE LEFT...TURN...IT...OFFFFFF!!!

Oops!! LOL!

So, it does happen sometimes.

Why would this be a prerecorded standard practice message - That's just strange and not believable

First we have to ask how does a YouTube channel, I assume broadcasting live, receive a “clip, intended to be used for training purpose's”?
Where is this YouTube channel broadcasted from? Is it located where they train?

Otherwise something is amiss.

Probably picked up off of NASA TV which is often just parked on a live-feed from the ISS. It can be 'drain-bramage' boring to watch sometimes, but every now and then weird stuff happens.

What if they are ALL simulations and all that is up there is an empty set of boxes?

NASA called off a spacewalk on June 13th due to an astronaut having issues with their spacesuit. Wonder if there was a medical emergency that happened.

"The spacewalk today, June 13, at the International Space Station did not proceed as scheduled due to a spacesuit discomfort issue," NASA later said on its website.

Maybe there was a water leak?

On a related side note (somewhat off-topic), I was interested to read recently that one of the most unpleasant thing about extra-vehicular activities in space (i.e. spacewalks) is the process of having to breathe pure oxygen for an extended period of time in an airlock area of the ISS (or other vehicles). This is to prevent nitrogen bubbles from forming when the astronauts return from the EVA's. The pressure inside a space suit is 4.3 psi, and the pressure inside the ISS is 14.3 psi (similar to Earth's atmospheric pressure at Sea Level). So, if the astronauts did not do this, their return to the ISS would require decompression which would take far longer than if they just breathe pure oxygen prior to the EVA.

I guess it's a pretty boring and isolated experience.

Just an interesting little factoid.

The problems were too big. "Rescue" is mandatory.

It's Elon Musk's Space-X to the rescue.
