About 1000 US troops are leaving NIGER & the $150+ million dollar bases the US built there as Russia will be taking over the anti terrorism operations in the area and taking over the US built bases

THE US had 2 airbase that they were operating manned and unmanned aircraft from to fly over North Africa and other areas in the region.

Nigers Prime Minster gave an interview to the Washington Post and said...

"the Americans stayed on our soil doing nothing while the terrorists killed
People and burnt towns. It's not a sign on friendship to come on our soil and let the terrorists attack us"

Can't argue with the people of Niger if that is how they see it. And far be it from me to argue that we didn't do just that, nothing! I wonder though in the middle of this war will the US destroy the bases as they leave. Like a take that Russia! Hope not...

No they didn't destroy the bases, there are other videos you can see their withdrawal from. I'm pretty sure we got the last of the troops out now.

The US govt doesn't even protect its own borders. Why should they care about Niger?
Now Ukraine, that's a different story. We will protect their borders "for as long as it takes".

It's been a long time coming. It's unfortunate we basically wasted all that money for seemingly nothing when it could have been put to better use.

Nameless is he? Ali Lamine Zeine became PM following a military coup last year. Commander of the Presidential guard, Abdourahamane Tchiani is Head of State. Looking at politics in Niger, there are 5 parties that have held power as well as a number of Independents. No false binaries or first past the post BS going on there!

Well that's just it, here the US is spending 100s of millions building bases in Niger, moving in tons of weapons and equipment , supporting 1000 US troops in NIGER for many years, training other forces in Niger, flying out multiple drone missions from NIger as this was the US biggest Drone base in all of Africa.

The US has been in Niger since 2013. That's 11 years and it's fair to say theyve easily spent in excess of 1 billion in Niger over that time.

The US has all these troops, resources and money tied up in Niger all the while the southern border has been open for several years, makes no sense at all.

The quote is from the video, they didn't name him in the video they just showed him and said "Nigers Prime Minister", I was too lazy to look up his name lol

I know a bit about the coup from what I watched last night

Will Biden leave a billion or 2 dollars worth of munitions and armament there for the Niger to confiscate like he did in Afghanistan?
Maybe leave a few unmanned drones there for their benefit?

Leave stuff for the Nigerians? Now way! The USA was there to help these people, not invading and bringing them ‘(D)emocracy’ so they get nothing.

They kicked France out before Christmas , Niger is now run by a military junta following a coup it's easy to see why they prefer Russia to America.

Yep, we predicted this about a year ago when we discussed it here on ATS.

Wagner forces have been in Niger since before the coup.

OH Please, Biden failure. Just stop with the partisanship. The military junta that took over Niger is obviously backed by Russia and Iran. Russia and Iran more than likely gave the Junta leadership a ton of money. Iran especially wants their uranium reserves. It's especially telling that the Junta came out and said that "The American presence in the territory of the Republic of Niger is illegal". Meanwhile they are letting in Russian troops onto the base. This is just a junta doing junta things. Being corrupted by outside money. But this time it's not us doing the corrupting.

You dont think the US setting up bases there didn't involve someone from NIger getting money from the US? You think they allowed the US to have their bases and 1000 troops there for the past 11+ years just for the heck of it, everything involves someone, somewhere profiting off it all

Thing is, there would be the secret arrangements, the backhander deals, individuals in each party who would personally benefit but sums would be peanuts.

The big money deals would all have been brokered through BIS, under contracts managed by them. They would take the middleman lion share. Both BIS and the country providing the 'aid' would realise long-term profit.

Understandable you would call this a Biden failure but the truth is it is a US failure that includes Trump.

In 2018, Moscow swooped into Bangui, Central African Republic (CAR) with arms and mercenaries in order to prop up the weak government of President Faustin-Archange Touadera in exchange for mineral rights. A former Russian intelligence officer is now national security advisor and Moscow is considering opening up a military base in the CAR. In the process, Russia undermined the fragile diplomatic efforts of the United Nations and France that had brought the competing factions in Bangui back from years of instability toward a path to peace. Opportunistically, Russia has simultaneously negotiated for access to mineral rights with three rebel groups contesting Touadera’s government (Plichta, 2018). Meanwhile, three Russian journalists who were investigating the role of Russian mercenaries were murdered in a targeted killing while driving in rural CAR in July 2018.

If anyone would like to read an interesting book, it is a book called "Spyfail", by James Bamford. It is a non-fiction account of the various intelligence failures of the US intelligence community.

If the US intelligence community can fail at stuff which gets laid right at their doorstep, all wrapped up with a pretty bow on it, then how could they possibly ever expect to be able to eradicate terrorism in Africa??

Not a huge surprise here.
