Lately, I have been thinking of moving to Patagonia but do you think a Russian bank would accept my Social Security check?

To be honest, I can't remember the last time I held a dollar bill in my hands. Not to mention the fact that he paid in dollars.
I have two bills in my wallet - 1 dollar and 2 dollars. The first one is for luck (a habit since the 90s of the last century), the second one is like a rarity)))
Dollars don’t circulate in Russia and you can’t pay with them anywhere))))

well to be honest while on paper german economy was considered good, the reality for the german people was not so good at least as far back as 2014.

When I live there our neighbors were both college educated with good jobs and had to work full time to stay ahead of things.

I lived in a decent cost of living (for germany) area.

Oh jeez, there have been so many reports in the past years that say Russia is failing.

It is estimated that in 2022, Russia's gross domestic product (GDP) dropped by 2.1%. Russia's economy may continue to shrink in 2023. It's GDP is forecast to decline by 2.5% in the worst-case scenario (OECD) or by 0.2% according to the World Bank.

Essentially they would just shrink away and disappear. Hmm, guess THAT didn't happen. But unfortunately, war is a money maker for some countries.

Russia for sure has had their share of problems, like many countries. But it has also been the default boogie man by the US liberal left for many of the USA's political issues, especially over the last 8 years or so. And of course, now just one of our big financial issues as we continue to support Ukraine's efforts in the war between the two countries.

I myself have been to Germany several times, and 3 German families came to visit me in the Caucasus for an annual meeting with classmates (the Germans had our Armenian girls as wives).
The standard of living was high then. Now they are asking whether, if they sell their houses in Germany (from 3 to 10 million euros), they can buy decent housing here in the Krasnodar Territory and move. My friends write to them that for that kind of money you can buy entire palaces in the mountains or on the sea. And for the rest, live luxuriously for the rest of your life. Guys in progress))))

Do you want to stay? Vote for Sarah Wagenknecht. It alone reflects the interests of the Germans. Others are corrupt clowns, that's all!

How much of your furniture did you have to burn to stay warm last winter?

Definitely not suitable.
You know, I was born and raised in Baku, Azerbaijan. In the mid-90s I moved to Russia. All my social and pension savings that were previously disappeared. I worked them out again in Russia. When moving, you must either work or live off your savings. This is the harsh truth for everyone)))

If correct, I have read an expat has to be young enough to marry and raise a family there. Has to have, or soon after, get a job to stay.

I'm just 73. I can do that.

Of course you can. Now Russia is massively accepting pensioners who are being kicked out by the Baltic countries simply because they are Russian. And Russians in Latvia make up more than 30% of the population. In Russia there is a social old-age pension. The older a pensioner is, the more pension he is paid each year. It is increasing. But it's small. I am younger than you, but I will also retire soon. But I'm going to work until the end. Work is life))))

Oh I live in alaska now, love the remote rugged countryside.

We lived there just over 4 years and I was happy to leave once the "refugees" started turning nice country areas into lawless snip holes.

I retired at 58 but managed to keep myself plenty busy since, until this past winter anyway. I have slowed down some now. I'm beginning to feel my age.

I'm a baby boomer and have witnessed firsthand the slow decay here. It truly saddens me to see what we have devolved into, and continue to devolve. My dad fought and was wounded on Iwo Jima and am glad he is not here to witness what is happening today. I feel this government has betrayed his and all of his patriot brothers and sisters by what these creeps are doing to this nation.

Everybody around here thinks the United States and Western allies won WW2 in Europe single-handedly and never even realize the sacrifice Russia suffered in that war. If not for Russia's involvement, the 3rd Reich could possibly still be alive and well to this day.

The days of the cold war and the Soviet Union were an unfortunate period after that war, but they are both gone now. But people can not forget.

I'm on RT's ignore list, I'm proud to say.

Russia's economy is on a war (sorry, "Special Military Operation") footing which needs to be factored in to the statistics.

Which are in any case about as reliable as Soviet era glorious tractor production ones.

I can see why you're holding onto them, it won't be long before you'll need a wheelbarrow to carry around the Rubles!! It also appears as though Daddy Xi is going off baby Putins second gas pipe line, so those Dollars will be a life saver in a few months time.

Err... No, they don't.

Just a shame that Stalin killed more Russians than the Nazis did afterwards.
