This article caught my eye. Lawmakers move to automate Selective Service registraton for all men

Sooo, in the midst of creating more legislation to nullify Constitutional Amendments, send money and weapons to war zones, and partisan bickering, it seems some in Congress feel we need to focus on insuring we can draft enough people to go to war. I guess not enough people are volunteering to be drafted. That seems to suggest a couple of questions.

Why does this Congresswoman feel the need for such legislation?

Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, D-Pa., sponsored the automatic registration language and called it both a money-saving and common-sense reform.
"By using available federal databases, the [Selective Service] agency will be able to register all of the individuals required and thus help ensure that any future military draft is fair and equitable," she said during debate on the idea Wednesday night.

It will, uh, save money. Yeah, that's the ticket. Because whenever the US government needs to save money, you can count on the US Congress to pinch every taxpa- ah, I mean penny. They've saved us so much we can afford to send tens of billions to other countries.

And will make the draft more fair. You know how Democrats are all about fairness.

The other question would be, why aren't enough people voluntarily registering for Selective Service?

Gee, that's a real head scratcher.

We know recruitment is down. It might have something to do with certain agencies considering potential recruits to be probable terrorists. If you're white, Christian, middle to lower class, patriotic, and/or conservative, you used to be the backbone of the military. Now, if you don't vote the right way, you're probably a domestic terrorist.

Maybe it has something to do with seeing all those military careers ruined by Covid mandates. Seeing someone who served honorably, but didn't want to take an experimental drug, lose it all. It's not like a civilian job where you get laid off and you just take your skills to another company. Maybe seeing that a career in the military is subject to the whims of corrupt politicians causes people to consider employment elsewhere.

Perhaps potential recruits have read about the last time we had a draft. Maybe they've even visited the Viet Nam memorial. Read some of the names on the wall, and thought, "Why did this guy have to die?" We lost good men, lost enough money to take us off the gold standard, and what did we gain? I know if I were to sacrifice my life, I would want it to be for something meaningful.

I can tell you one thing about the next war (or whatever we will call it) with near certainty. It will have one thing in common with the last war, and the war before that, and the war before that, etc. It will not be US troops defending US territory. We'll be fighting to protect some other country, or liberate some oppressed people, or stop some evil regime before they can do anything, or whatever palpable platitude they can peddle on the public.

Maybe eligible draftees aren't too keen on risking life and limb to kill people in other countries only to return to a country that cares more about illegal immigrants, and would just a soon see you shot in the back by a corrupt DC cop.

If Republican leadership isn't onboard with this Democrat-sponsored idea, it's dead already. THANK GOD Americans took the U.S. House away from Democrats and handed it to Republicans in 2022. (Most Dems are still too stunned to admit Americans did this to them.)

I was going to write up a long diatribe in condemnation of the corruption we call a federal government but after 3 paragraphs, I decided it wasn't worth it. Two years ago, I predicted that military recruitment would decline and I was right. Young men are finally waking up to the realization that this government is sending them off to fight and die for purely political reasons that have nothing to do with this nation's security. Anyone with half a brain should know there is no military power on this planet that would even consider invading the US. It would be insanity and certain destruction to do so and the powers even half capable know this.

Conventional war has become obsolete but it seems this government still has not realized this fact. But because of their globalist hegemonic mentality and crony capitalist greed, they continue to foment wars of aggression in foreign lands. Ignorant greedy bastards! The MIC would go broke if our government didn't blow up half a million innocents here or half a million there in some foreign nation somewhere. Thank you, Barack Obama and Victoria Nuland.

I could go on but what for?

All I can say here to the young men of this nation, WAKE UP. Tell this government to go to hell. You refuse to die for their greed and stupidity and insanity.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the drafting of this bill, America is not going to be attacked where they will need actual drafted troops any time soon.

Rumor has it that military service will be in the cards for a chunk of the immigrant population, it's imperative the Democrats get these groups into the system and relatively content. Right now that isn't happening

Maybe, we have had 170,000 naturalized soldiers since 2002, 2023 we had 12,000. Triple the number from 2020.

It's already an issue.

The military is trying to manage it and keep a lid on the whole thing.

We all know how that will work and play out...

Only way you're going to fill boots is to have some sort of event happen here at home. It would have to be brutal and defining. Other than that, the draftees will be kicking and screaming the whole way.

It still baffles me that they think they'll just say "war" and people are just going to watch their kids go march off and get wrecked.

AND FOR WHAT?

These kids are not going to go fight a GD thing, lol. Just watch how much these young adults love America when Uncle Sam comes a knockin'!! Lol.

Recruitment is declining for two reasons. One you mentioned, that some are waking up. But a male wh wants action and adventure doesn't care much about politics and they will enlist regardless. That's why you get plenty of mercenaries.

However they do want to be looked at as hard and brave, this isnt possible when the army is now seemingly preferring trans folk and little women and all other kinds.
When the army is a laughingstock, nobody who wants to be manly and belong to something that used to be seen as dangerous and for strong men only, will sign up to some wuss fest.
They will rather join the foreign legion.

I know I would. And I'm a small older woman with no fighting capabilities.

I sure hope the people automating the selective service process aren't the same people that
streamlined the FAFSA application

In Nam days, we could go to bars then at 18; in Mich. Started when my # in '71 was 98. Up to 140 was next for Nam. 19 yrs old.

Cardboard boxes coming hm to crying mothers. It was nutz.

I lost 1/3 of the guys and a few girls from my grad class.

The draft was eventually abolished, and I lucked out. But, like a lotta teens, I can swim across the D river to Canada. I was ready....

They said then about NOT NEEDING the draft because now(then) we got all these new weapons that operate themselves.

WTF!!!!!!! We got MORE advanced weaponry NOW then in '71.... and we need another draft???????

Well ..I do believe w/out soldiers to operate advanced systems...we're screwed.

What is this thread about?

Selective service registration for all males in the USA is mandatory by law from 18 to 25 years old. There are some references in this thread suggesting it is voluntary but it is not. It does apply to illeagle aliens as well as citizens.

When I registered many years ago, I had to do it at the post office. Now it seems it can be done online. How is this automation to work as all eligible must register by law?

No doubt, especially when other factors keep what was the previous military's normal recruiting base demographic from enlisting.

I did too, and went on the day of my birthday, felt like a right of passage. I was old enough to die for my country.

But just because it's illegal it doesn't mean there aren't millions not signing up. Damn sure no most illegals aren't doing so, but I'd imagine there are some Americans with SSNs who get busted for not signing is more than UNDOCS do.

Please wait! It wont be just for men. They're called "identity cards" which every person will have to have one and carry it at all times, with your personal details and access to your medical records, criminal record (even minor infringements) etc. No identity card, immediate arrest till you prove your identity.
