While 'we' are all concentrating on not breathing second hand smoke? and the cigarettes taxes are through the roof, 'we' go to the gas pump and say.'It is the cost of doing business'? as our mouths are filled with exhaust pipes?
When are we going to see what is doing DOWN in this country?

...I think you're going to have to rephrase this, at least for my sake. I have no idea what it is you're trying to say. Think I'm going to grab a smoke (I heard second hand smoke is bad for you, so I only deal with first hand smoke)

This past week, we had a pollen?? count of 3568 in this city.
A high count is 120 ppm..
How can we breathe and what is this doing to our children?

both are very bad but at least the gas price tends to affect most people, where as only a smaller portion of society is affected by cigarette prices. and guess what i spend more on? cigaretts cost more then my 80 km round trip to work
not to mention that transit to the same place costs more then the gas does
. and that is the cheaper slower transit available. a 30 min car trip is 3 hours + buy bus i could pay even more and get the time down to about 2 hours mabe (too expensive for me to try it). all in all my outflow of cash is more then i currantly make at a full time job. (thank god i can get my rent money off my parrents, that would take almost all of my paycheck itself).

Yes the hypocrisy of the system.
It's pretty obvious that the powers that be don't really have our best interests at heart. But they do a good job of making it appear that they do.

They warn us about the devastating effects of second hand smoke. Yet they do nothing to help develop cleaner, safer, cheaper energy.
They warn us and claim to be protecting us from deathly addictive illegal drugs, like Marijuana. Yet they sell us legal drugs far more dangerous than the illegal ones. They make it appear as though they are protecting us from whatever is this weeks threat to our nation. When in reality the threat is a sham to cover up expansions of power.

It's not hard to do. All they have to do is focus on something that effects us directly, second hand smoke, and they can do anything whilst we fret over getting second hand cancer.

The reality is, they only care about what they can get out of us.

(btw I think the second hand smoke deal is a "smokescreen" to cover up cancer from other polutions)

just take a look at Mexico city- or China- even their people are rebelling against the pollution. Particulates can really mess with a person's respiratory system. And ground level ozone can be hazardous to your health too. The second hand smoke is a joke next to your man's sperm count being half what it used to be due to the chemicals and pollution increase of the last 50 years. Yeah, isn't the industrial age over yet?????

There is something seriously flawed with your comparison of cigerettes and gasoline.

No person "needs" cigerettes, a whole modern industrial world depends on oil.

You could stop the sale of cigerettes tomorrow and other than the share holders of Phillip Morris being ticked off you would have no adverse reactions. Stop the sale of oil, well then, you get an economic crisis.

I'm not sure I understand this thread........

......so just fill up your tanks with cigarettes and smoke the gasoline..............

that might switch the tax around and but then you'd be dead with a dead car that won't start becau.................aahhh forget it...........

I get what he is saying, he is saying why are people so worried about 2nd hand smoke, when the air is so polluted with exhaust.

Answer: the oil companies supress alternate fuels, thats it.
