George Stephanopoulos defiant over Trump's defamation suit: 'I'm not going to be cowed'

ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos doubled down, insisting he won’t be "cowed out of doing my job because of a threat" on Wednesday when asked about former President Trump's defamation lawsuit against him.

In March, Trump sued for defamation after Stephanopoulos said several times on ABC's "This Week" during a heated interview earlier this month with Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., that the former president was "found liable for rape." A federal jury in New York decided that Trump was not liable for rape but was liable for sexual abuse and defamation in the 2023 civil trial of advice columnist E. Jean Carroll v. Trump.

Here we have George doubling down on his false claim. I don't know if that causes the lawsuit to increase in damages, but in the case of telling a falshood about someone when you are a trusted news anchor, I think that's not a winning case. There is video evidence of Goerge saying Trump was guilty of rape, when in fact that was NOT the case. I think the defiant attitude will prove to be a bad thing, and Trump will win this one. Maybe he can get enough to cover that fine he got from Carrol's defimation suit, where Trump claimed he was innocent.

Either way, it's nice to see things moving back in the correct direction.

He was one the Clintons "trusted aid", he donated thousands to the Hillary campaign and was a sore loser when she got ousted by Trump.

He hates Trumps guts and will do anything for the Clintons that are well known to hold grudges for life.

But this is no longer about what may or may not have happened years ago with a woman who is inhinged, it's about George stating a falshood several times on national TV. He lied, and it's not up for debate. We have the tapes. LOL. The only remaining question is how much will Trump get from ABC.

crazy "rape is sexy" lady said he did, and a jury of Trump haters said he didn't rape her, but was guilty of sexual assault, it was in the news, I'm sure you saw it, in fact, I'm sure you commented on it but may have lost that memory due to bong hits.

If the jury would have called it rape, then Goerge would be fine, they didn't, and he's not. Change the water.

Ashely didn't know what to think. As a little girl, she was stunned by what her dad was doing. But later in life, she became hyper-sexed due to what Joe Biden repeatedly did to her (or in front of her), while in the shower.

I wish there was a legal way for Trump to transfer his debt to F Jean Carrol over to Stephanopoulos, after he wins. How cool would it be for him to just step out from in the middle and let the two lefties settle up. It would be such a classic Trump move.

I'm still not sure you understand all this. The judge did not rule that he raped her. Which is what George stated multiple times on camera. Like if all you did is sold a few ounces, but I claimed you were a convicted murderer. That would be wrong and you would have grounds to sue me for defamation. That's what this case is about.

George's really sticking to his guns here. I get wanting to stand firm, but if there's solid evidence proving the claim was false, it could spell trouble. Credibility is everything in journalism, so it's a risky move. Can't help but wonder if this'll swing in Trump's favor. Just hoping for a fair resolution in the end.
