Good luck on your tour and I hope it's a bit fun.
I do think the Laginas have dragged out a story and are ruining what was once a great mystery with their chunks of random wood! It is a good drinking game though when your hear the phrase "I've got wood"
The history channel show started out fun but after about season 4 it got a bit boring. Theres nothing wrong with trying to make it an offical archeological dig and research about the beginning of the European discovery of North American and some of the artifacts do point to this being possible and long before the 'official' story, but sometimes it's like watching bad builders digging foundations for a tower block!

Havnt read through the thread just your op.

But a coin, or a medal. Bring to an ironmonger or wherever and get it looking really old. File down the dates on it just enough so it cant be read.
Take a couple of chunks off the sides. Rough it up.

They can make things like this look really old ive seen a video on it ages ago.
