Hi all

Im just reminicing on the past.
I was having a clean out and opend my old computer.
Sinclair spectrum 48k.
What a smell.
It still smells brand new.

I bought it from ebay about 25 years ago and it looks brand new not a mark.
It gave me the itch to play the old games again.Thank you emulators.
I put the ZX back in its box and downloaded as much MAME roms as i could.
76gb of roms I downloaded and going through them took me way back.

I used to go on holiday to skegness in the 1980s.
There was so many arcades it was brilliant.
The sound and the smell...
I could hear a game from the other side of the arcade and pin point it.

I remember playing operation wulf and was standing on a milk crate.
That was a brilliant game.
Along with Double Dragon
Out Run
Spy Hunter
Choplifter
Kung Fu Master

Great days.
Ive seen a new arcade opening for us nostalgics with just an entrance fee.
I will more than likely pay a visit.

There is 1 game that cant be emulated that I loved...BUGGY BOY.
I miss them days.

I started in pizza joints and bars in Alaska the 70’s.

Dad would drink and I would play.

Different world.

Oh yeah

Dragon's Lair
Punchout
Galaxians

and the pinball machines ...

Firepower
Black Knight

Good times.

If I ever win the lottery, I'm building a drive-in theater with an arcade and a putt putt course. I'll probably make it invitation only to keep the riff raff out.

We had a "Gold Mine" at our local mall. My dad was a cop and would moonlight at the mall. He'd take me to work with him. He'd give me a $20 and I could play in the arcade for like two hours. Great memories.

Pac-Man
Ms. Pac-Man
Excite Bike
Dragon's Lair
Ye Ar Kung Fu

We have a huge old school arcade near me now. You pay like $15 to get in and all the games are free. They have like 200 games or so.

We have a few arcades in my area, $15 to enter, and you can play all you want for 4 hours.

The main one i go to has 30+ pinball machines and stand ups. I go a lot, as I play IFPA sanctioned events...yup, I compete "professionally".

I brought my teenager once, she loved it, wondered why people haven't opened more of them. I got to share the joys of the 80s mall arcades with her.

I am currently looking to buy a few of my own machines, and put them in a storefront in town for the kids...the closest arcade to us is 1 hour.

I have never been on a rigged machine. There is a lot of skill to pinball...learning shot patterns, holds, bumps, slaps, etc, but there still is luck.

I played 1 tournament round of Venom...4 players..., NONE of us scored higher than 20 million. Next round I played was Ghostbusters and my FIRST ball scored 2.1 billion...that silver ball is finicky.

You have to be tuned into the 'eather' when achieving that sort of score....... Deaf, dumb and blind...

Loved the video games but my true love in the 70’s was Foosball, used to do the tournaments too.

It’s sad that most kids today will never get to enjoy and experience all the cool games we had back in the day. They’re all to busy talking on FB, Instagram and Tiktok nowadays😔

Good times 👍

It's funny you say that.

Some friends and I get together once or twice a week for some trash talk fun.

It amazes us still to this day, there are times you couldn't drain that ball trying. Other times you can't keep it for 30 seconds.

It only takes one ball to win the game...you just have to keep it rolling.

As to being in touch with the eather...I can't describe it to you. But yeah, when I am on my game, I really am someplace else.

As lame as it sounds, when I am playing by my self, I will close my eyes and try to play by feel. The best I have done, is 27 seconds, I average 14.

And yes...it is bc of The Who.

I never got good at it, probably bc my younger brother always beat me. I hated that.

At least I can say, every time we go golfing, I get my revenge!
