COKE .....
waaaaaay back mid 1980's? BEFORE NEW COKE
i liked it and it was drinkable, but NEW coke was foul,
then they brought back coke CLASSIC and
it WASNT THE SAME .. thats around the time rumours spread
that the original recipe was STOLEN -- we believed that,
i thought maybe puberty changed my taste buds....
BEFORE new coke, i could drink mountain dew, and
MELLO YELLO i could drink by the case, went down smoothe
pepsi was too sweet, dr pepper was excellent,
and Hires rootbeer was BEST hands down,..
i thought they LOST ALL THEIR ORIGINAL RECIPIES
or my taste buds changed, or burnt off from hot pizza
once in a while coke was drinkable at certain restaraunts,
made me wonder WHY? wife pointed out was from fountain
i noticed mountain dew and sprite were CRISPIER
mello yello too, started being crispy like mtn dew,
and i could no longer suck it down like before
coke too... WHY i pondered,...
then when SODA STREAM came along....
and my one friend had a big co2 tank, a hose and soda cap
on the end., he was injecting it into everything, ice tea,
orange juice,... and would ALWAYS refresh a flat bottle of soda
BUT,.....
TOO MUCH MADE IT BITTER ......A HA!
then i remembered that restaraunt where i could drink coke
and IT HIT ME it was around the time where we went from....
customer service (before 1985) to MAXIMUM PROFITS
THOSE CHEAP P-RICKS TRIED TO SHAVE A NICKELS WORTH
off the COST of each can!!
that HAD TO BE IT.... i bought a bag of coke syrup,
and added just a tiny bit more, and SHAZAM!
COKE WAS DRINKABLE AGAIN, tried mello yello,
IT WAS MELLOW AGAIN, sprite, didnt cut your tongue off anymore
ALL MY FAVORITES TASTE LIKE BEFORE NEW COKE STARTED
sprite is rather excellent (again) with that extra nickels worth!!
dr pepper too
even so, it is STILL IMPOSSIBLE to drink water out of empty
COKE BOTTLE,.... ugh! nastiest, grossest thing i ever drank!
so that is my hypothesis they SKIMPED ON SYRUP
TO SAVE NICKELS....and HIRES ROOTBEER is still the best, but
i think pepsi bought them, and sidelined it to push their own brands
only ONE BOTTLER LEFT ,.... IN TEXAS,
but after 40 years i finally figured it out, -- yeah buddy!
