The Borsen is Copenhagen's 400 year old "Stock Exchange" which like Notre-Dame was having renovation works done until today when it caught fire , it's another historic loss likely brought about by those trying to restore it.

As with Notre-Dame the Borsen had a spire.

Questions have to be asked about the wisdom of these large scale restorations.

Sympathy to Denmark.

I think a lot of this occures because modern construction techniques and practices are not comparable with these older structures. Take an oiled floor for example. While it was normal practice in the past to treat a wood floor with oil, it makes them more flammable if a fire starts. Not all construction workers would know this and take it into consideration.

It is sad to see a fire in any structure that old. Another part of history lost even if it is rebuilt.

And a beautiful one at that... Hopefully it can get rebuilt well, in a similar fashion and design as it once was.

It sure was.
But also the reason why we have free medicare, free schools, we get paid to study, get paid for every child we get until they are 18.
Paid maternityleave for almost a year.
Its a symbol on our entire welfare system.

Now that aside, the fire most likely has started during work with copper, where the temperatures are quite high during soldering

So your saying the restoration work would have been performed by someone without any knowledge of the construction techniques?

Stranger and stranger.

No, I am saying some work was done by someone that did not understand the surrounding materials. Historically, the materials used in buildings were more likely to be more flammable. Not just any modern tools and techniques can be used nearby.

Call me suspicious, but I have grown suspicious.
It all seems to happen strangely at a time of religious/political conflict between you know who.
I can't shake my suspicion. That's what the world has done to my mind.
