“The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, together with the Federal Customs Service of Russia, has blocked the cross-border smuggling channel for the delivery of explosives to the country from Ukraine in transit through the countries of the European Union.
During an inspection of a car by Russian FSB officers at the international automobile checkpoint “Ubylinka” (Pskov region, Latvian-Russian section of the state border), foreign-made explosives were found in a shipment of Orthodox icons and church utensils imported to the Russian Federation from Ukraine.
In total, from the cargo traveling along the route: Ukraine-Romania-Hungary-Slovakia-Poland-Lithuania-Latvia-Russia, 27 improvised explosive devices camouflaged in icons and ready for use, 70 kg of industrially produced high-power plastic explosive, 91 electric detonators were recovered and parts of the shot for RPG-7."
