did you listen closely to what he said at the :26 sec mark through the loop to the end

here i'll try to quote, may not be accurate and you'll have to listen closely yourself.

when ever we're coming into and out of port. we have the number one pump on because that's attached to the emergency bus, so if we lost power the emergency diesel generator comes on and would still give us power to our steering.

we know that the ship lost power not once but twice and was completely dark, that would most definitely cause power loss to both pumps and steering would be affected for what ever time frame and probably be extended due to systems rebooting. it just doesn't happen in a flash.

somewhere i read that a 300 meter ship would take 6 to 8 minutes come to a complete stop after dropping anchor and with a locked rutter to way to control where the ship is headed.
