Trump is selling ‘God Bless the USA’ Bibles for $59.99 as he faces mounting legal bills

The last couple Bibles we bought were between $100-$120, not counting the $40 child's 1st Bible for my SO granddaughter. Thanks for the link, I may buy a couple

Looks like their might be an Evangelical backlash to the trump bibles. I don't know what the big deal is....relegion has been used as a political tool for quite some time now.

I didn't say I care it's just another example of a grifter grifting his fanbase although I do find it distasteful that he's describing it as "the only Bible endorsed by President Trump" implying because of his endorsement it's superior to Bibles not endorsed by him , it is after all just the Bible.

Sheep are there to be fleeced so he may as well fleece them I guess but his message kinda runs counter to the message of the book he's using to make money from.

Although some Christians believe him to be the Anti-Christ as described by verses in the book he's grifting , I guess this grift plays into that narrative somewhat.

My god's creation is in-deterministic and doesn't give me truly free will, so ultimately prayer could only be a psychodrama and not directly related to causality. It's not applicable here.

This is how I relate to it as well. Free will is not easy, it takes a whole lot of care to understand the difference between decisions which are maybe free and those that are just outcomes of previously complex impressions, if that makes sense to you.

Trump's an ass, but I can't see him forcing me to pray. I don't even see any avenue in which that would ever happen.

When Trump first hit the big stage in 15 I was over 65 and had been watching for someone like Trump to come along, I just had not anticipated such a jerk, such an, well, pick your own adjective. I once believed in progress, now though that has changed. Not progress so much as just expansion of potential. I used to hold that this potential would in a way float all boats but it now does not seem to fit the story line. The old liberal message of just provide the best information to people and they would gravitate to it from some deeper almost metaphysical drive . But what I am seeing now this is not the case. While some may be developing along with that precept, way many more are not but merely choosing what information to pay attention to. The book of potential is not a, how to put this, vertical curve but rather a horizontal expansion. To me this means that not enough of the older, out of date, paradigms that some had hoped would be left in the dust of ignorance have gone away, there are still here.

This means to me that many of the things that ten years ago I would have thought impossible in who Americans could choose as their leader have become real. So to think that forced prayer is off the table, though even now seems too extravagant a fear, is surprisingly possible.
