In a move that has sparked both applause and controversy, the Michigan Legislature passed a bipartisan amendment to House Bill 5503, creating a $1 million anonymous tip line for students to report improperly stored firearms in their homes. This provision, which is part of the state's K-12 school budget, has ignited debate over privacy, Second Amendment rights, and school safety.
The owner of Mexico's Oxxo convenience stores is crossing the border and expanding to parts of West Texas and New Mexico.

Republican North Carolina gubernatorial candidate and Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson was hospitalized Friday night following a campaign event in the Tar Heel State's city of Mount Airy.
In an email to Newsweek Friday night, Mike Lonergan, Robinson's campaign communications director, said that the lieutenant governor was being treated for second-degree burns at Northern Regional Hospital.
"He is in good spirits, appreciates the outpouring of well wishes, and is excited to return to the campaign trail as scheduled first thing [Saturday] morning," read a later statement from Robinson's campaign, which was shared with Newsweek.
NewsNation reporter Libbey Dean first reported that two sources familiar with the matter told her that Robinson left the event "quickly" and was still in the hospital.
According to Mitchell-Kidd, the incident occurred at a private residence in 2018, when her client was drugged and then sexually assaulted by Combs and another man.
The victim, in a state of terror, escaped to the streets, where a neighbor intervened. A police report was filed, though it did not initially name Combs due to fears of retaliation.
According to Mitchell-Kidd, these tapes are pornographic in nature and feature Diddy alongside another, even more prominent figure.
Mitchell-Kidd revealed that tapes allegedly featuring the rap mogul are now circulating on Hollywood’s black market.
She claimed to have seen still images from the tapes and confirmed their authenticity.
Deal hinted that Diddy’s arrest is merely the tip of the iceberg, linking it to a wider investigation targeting corrupt politicians in New York City. He even implicated New York City Mayor Eric Adams, suggesting that the Southern District of New York has been investigating Diddy and his political ties for some time.
“Buzbee made sure to note that ‘each individual story is gut wrenching and heartbreaking’, claiming that the alleged ‘acts complained of occurred at hotels, private homes, and also at the infamous PDiddy ‘Freak Off’ parties.” He described the alleged ’violations’ as ‘mindboggling debauchery and depravity, exacted by powerful people against minors and the weak’.”
He expects the number of alleged victims represented by his firm to ‘grow’, and is convinced that ‘many other individuals will be implicated’.
“Buzbee — who has not yet filed a formal lawsuit on behalf of the alleged victims — announced plans for a press conference early next week ‘where some of these stories can be told as the nation learns more and grapples with the potential scope of this scandal’. He concluded, ‘Our firm has always been at the forefront of the most important cases in the United States. We are proud to represent this group of brave souls and pray for justice on their behalf’.”
