Boston Reparations Lobbyists Call on White Churches to Pay Billions To Build Low Income Housing

A Boston Task Force is trying to shake down 'white churches' in Boston for billions of dollars, telling them to 'atone' for slavery and pump $15 Billion into the black communities. Specifically they are calling for these 'white churches' to give $5 billion of cash payments to Boston’s black residents simply for being black, and $5 billion to invest in new 'black' financial institutions, which of course are segregationist and racist.

NY Post - Boston Reparations Lobbyists Call on White Churches to Pay Billions To Build Low Income Housing

The Boston Task Force on Reparations called on “white churches” to step up and pay the black community back for racial inequities that root back to the trans-Atlantic slave trade, according to reports. The Boston Globe reported that black and white clergy members met in Roxbury for a press conference intended to be held outside, though it was instead held in the basement of the Resurrection Lutheran Church on Saturday because of rain.

In February, the Boston activists called for the city to “fully commit to writing checks” and for a $15 billion payout since the city’s wealth was built on slavery. “We call sincerely and with a heart filled with faith and Christian love for our white churches to join us and not be silent around this issue of racism and slavery and commit to reparations,” Rev. Kevin Peterson said.

“We point to them in Christian love to publicly atone for the sins of slavery and we ask them to publicly commit to a process of reparations where they will extend their great wealth — tens of millions of dollars among some of those churches — into the black community,” said Peterson.
Specifically, in a letter obtained by the Globe, the group calls on churches to provide cash payments while also helping to create affordable housing and back new financial institutions “in black Boston.”

One form of payment would be $5 billion of cash payments to Boston’s black residents, another would be $5 billion to invest in new financial institutions, and the remaining $5 billion would go toward addressing the racial disparities in education and anti-crime measures. The amount is more than three times the annual budget in Boston, which was set at $4.28 billion for fiscal year 2024.

So ... should these 'white churches' in Boston suck $15 Billion from their 'white' congregations and hand it over to black people because they are black, and hand it over to the black people so they can run their own separate financial institutions? Slavery ended 160 years ago. No one today is wealthy because of it. No one today was a slave, nor their parents, nor their grandparents, nor their great grandparents most likely. In 1860, 76% of the country did not own slaves, and half the country sent people to war to fight against slavery, many giving their lives. Those that did own slaves lost their wealth in the civil war. Many of the people alive today in the United States didn't even have ancestors who were in this country back then.

There is no reason for any so called 'reparations', let alone shaking down 'white churches' to get their congregations to hand over money to black people simply because they are black. There are plenty of tax payer funded programs in this country for poor people and people of color to help them. They also have to want to help themselves.

How many people died fighting to free slaves? I’d say sorry no reparations , blood paid that debt in full.

deserve to rule over us.

Mkay I got one.

This is what happens when we let a bunch of psychopathic Eric Cartmen's run the place.

Churches are constantly helping poor people around here, they hand out food and will help those who need temporary assistance to pay their light or heat bill if they are going to get them shut off. They do not discriminate, and most of these churches do not have much money either. If this happened around here, the Yoopers would unite, no matter what party in politics, and get rid of the people pushing that kind of craziness or just break off of Michigan to join Wisconsin. Churches use some of their money to help all people, the separation of church and state means the government can not dictate how their donations are used.

The churches do a way better job at helping the poor and needy than any government agency has per dollar of money spent.

Churches help the poor ... volunteering to do so.
But this is a task force FORCING them to take money from the people and the church.
And churches in Boston don't have billions of dollars to play these games with.

It's racist and segregationist. And for the black people to claim that so called 'white churches' must ATONE for slavery ... that's outrageous. They have nothing to 'atone' for.

I'm mostly troubled that this has come from a so called Reverend. He apparently needs to read up on Ezk.18 and pray for forgiveness.

[1] The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
[2] What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?
[3] As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.
[4] Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
[5] But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,
[6] And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman,
[7] And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
[8] He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,
[9] Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.
[10] If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,
[11] And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,
[12] Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,
[13] Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.
[14] Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,
[15] That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,
[16] Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,
[17] That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
[18] As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.
[19] Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
[20] The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
[21] But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
[22] All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
[23] Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
[24] But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
[25] Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
[26] When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
[27] Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
[28] Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
[29] Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
[30] Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
[31] Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
[32] For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

When My great grandmother and my Grandfather came to this country, there was no slavery anymore. My Grandfather slaved in the mine to save enough money to build his house, getting boards from local sawmills and leasing his land from the mine. Once the house was paid for and he had enough to buy some tools to work the gardens and buy a horse and wagon, he was able to get out of the mine and raise food which he sold to pay his taxes and buy necessities. My father and his brothers and sisters all worked on the farm from childhood till they went to fight in WW11 and came back and got jobs. My family has a history of being hard workers and frivolous with our money to keep out of debt for very long.

I do not owe anything in reparations to black people, why should people who were not even in this country benefitting from slavery have to pay them? Most people worked hard all their life, not getting rich. Take the money from those who's families benefitted by slavory, half of the Congressmen would probably be in that group, so would many of the people that donate to their political parties. Sure, there are a few Christians that are well off, but the majority of them are just hard working people trying to survive.

They talk about white churches, but here the churches have almost ninety five percent whites...black people are not common up here where there is lots of snow...they are a little smarter than whites when it comes to snow belts and bitter cold winters.

Well, I mean then here are my demands:

As a man with Jewish roots, I expect Egypt to pay reparations WITH interest for "helping build the pyramids".

As a man with indigenous roots, also, native tribes once held my kin as slaves after they lost a battle. I will expect all tribes with casinos to pay me 10% of the house take....daily.

I say reparations for all!!!
AKA...Who is the biggest victim group roulette.

Wow, $15 billion. I don't think these "reverends" understand basic economics. That amount is beyond absurd. The entire Boston city budget for 2024 is just over $4 billion. This money pays for all city departments, including city employee salaries, health care, education, infrastructure, etc, etc, etc...

Per the NYT article:
In February, the Boston activists called for the city to “fully commit to writing checks” and for a $15 billion payout since the city’s wealth was built on slavery.

I love the concept of diverting unethical wealth from the false prophets to the underprivileged community, but let's be honest, the churches who really deserve to be leveraged won't pay a dime. This only hurts people who are already suffering to make homes for the unlawful residents who are being s̶m̶u̶g̶g̶l̶e̶d̶ shuttled from the border.

Or maybe, maybe that's just me being cynical... but I doubt it.

It's worth noting here that currently there's 15 million empty houses and 580 to 650 thousand homeless citizens who were born here in the US and can't be afforded housing. You do the math.

Sad part is just a couple of idiots in charge of a couple churches will be stupid enough to give in, which will keep the demands going.

It was, as well as it ever was, In America.

Unfortunately you see the democrats getting it up and running again with 20 million mostly Hispanic illegals. Sex trafficking, children, women, male laborers, narcotics mules.

Very fitting, since democrats ran and tried to preserve, the first slavery franchise. And when things looked lost, they created the KKK and Jim Crow for a miracle comeback that luckily failed.

Dems lost their AA slavery, so now they’re building a new Hispanic slavery. What terrific folks.
