I hate to be this asshole and ask this question but, What type of food source would be large enough to sustain a creature of the supposed size of this monster in this lake? Unless of course the monster is like a whale and just inhales plankton through comb like teeth in a supposed head structure that is nothing like that of a whales?

I think there was talk of a lot of these lochs being linked , when I was a child there was a distant family member who went out on a boat fishing on a loch and never returned that day ,He was found dead the next day in the boat and his hair had turned white and he had a look of horror on his face more that that I cannot remember as it was half a century ago .

When we were kids we used to go into lava tubes hundreds of meters easily and nobody knew about them until we told a school teacher who was horrified and had them put a grate over the entrence .

But more than a few people think there is caves in the loch that connect to the sea but the dwarf that went into that small divING bell that I mentioned and got dragged behind a boat in near zero visibility deserved a medal

Cryptozoology.

One of my favorite interests. I really miss these kinds of threads.

I remember the last consensus was it could be a large eel.

Lochs can be found in Scotland and Ireland whilst lakes are found elsewhere.

It's a Gaelic word and means the same as lake.

Possibly the likes of eels/trout/salmon.

But the question is valid, there is not really much in the loch that could sustain anything the alleged size of Nessie as far as I'm aware.

Where was that out of interest?

As far as I'm aware mate there hasn't been any documented evidence of lava tubes in Scotland.

So if you found some that would be a massive find.

Yes you are right.

It's a very big lake and unusually deep.

Ive not been there in years carpy2.

But the thing that struck me was not just the depth of the loch, but the fact that it's freezing cold even for Scottish water.

So if Nessie exists its not a cold-blooded aquatic lizard of any sorts from another epoch by my guess.

I remember those photos of a "fin" which got me excited but I read that being debunked.

There are similar creatures reported in large bodies of water around the world.

Who knows?

That may well be an indicator right there all the same.

Meaning there are scores of things that end up floating about lochs/lakes all over the planet.

Seen for a distance combined with humanity's propensity for pareidolia.

Well, the ingredients for the recipe are all there, all we need to is mix and allow our minds to come up with monster.

It's a loch, not a lake?

A loch is a lake and a lake is a loch. Just depends on the country you're in.

Well "There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in ""our"" philosophy."

I was out with the dog a few years back, looked up, and saw a big massive black triangle, hovering in and out the clouds, but i was quite a bit mad with it, and when i looked again it had done the off.

Who knows what really out there and about that we have yet to fully realise or understand.

Nothing wrong with that. Y'all treat Nessie like we treat Bigfoot over here. It's unfortunate that all the crews who set out to find these guys are all paid off to get close and nothing else. Just like ghost hunters have ruined programs about haunted houses.

The large black triangles are "believed" to be military dirigibles.

And I've heard of them having a cloaking device of some kind. Like underneath can imitate the sky.

Aye, i know all the spiel Annee on the triangles.

Kind of what brought me to ATS back in the day.

Clouds were moving at some pace and this one appeared to be stationary, then it simply was gone, no disturbances visible.

But it was about 11:30pm and i was 3 sheets to the wind.

I saw a flying saucer -- way back about 1964 before drones.

Bright clear day -- about 4:30 in the afternoon only high wispy clouds. It glowed a whitish/yellow.

It moved in what appeared to be a half circle -- then shot straight up until I could no longer see it.

I believe
