Feds Targeting Gamers for Spreading Disinformation

Here's a warning for those members who have migrated to Discord. I just posted this over there and left that channel. I'm still with Discord, but got away from the refugees that came from here. I suggest that the time to join something entirely off the radar is now, like some kind of members-only private network, perhaps a Wifi LAN if you live in an urban area.

This "Disinformation Primer" from the GAO warns that "problematic information" regularly originates from networks of alternative sites and anonymous individuals who have created their own "alt-media" online spaces: Reddit, 4Chan, Discord, and "gaming sites." To users, these spaces "enable them to collaborate and validate their own interpretations of the world that differ from "mainstream" sources.

. . . The government has become obsessed with "disinformation" to the point where it set up a Disinformation Governance Board. There's the accepted "mainstream" narrative, and then there are "interpretations of the world that differ from 'mainstream' sources."

This is what the government is monitoring: your gaming chat while you play Call of Duty.

I know, pretty obvious that they are monitoring game chat services, however, the article names Discord, so of course, no quarter is to be found there.

I can't be sure how safe these two services may be, but I didn't want to leave without something to offer as a more practical work around.

The govt cracking down on disinformation is this years biggest oxymoron. Policing themselves should keep them busy for the next century at least. I have no doubts the censorship is happening, I just can't fathom this level of "stupid".

Right now there is far less action here on ATS with so many members using Discord.

It seems almost like a strategy to concentrate the opposition to better control them. Like a round-up with the herd finally put into the corral to be readied for the trip to the slaughterhouse.

The governments all over the world seek to censor or, at least, monitor the internet. Any reason will do; protecting children from porn, hunting pedophiles, detecting terrorists, fighting disinformation etc. In the US or EU it's not as invasive as in China or Iran but still citizens are treated like children, who can be spoiled by unlimited freedom.

That said, discord is a safe heaven for all kinds of sick psychos, like the ones blackmailing kids into hitting their cats on the head or smashing them against the wall.

Not convinced herding us around worked since ats refugees landed in many multiple places! It's gotta be giving 3 letter agencies just fits! (maniacal laughing) Also the bloggers who came here for easy material. As long as they're cracking down on false info maybe they should copy the list of sources here found to be unreliable? We've always policed ourselves pretty well.

Perhaps there are cells of gamers at work intent on spreading disinformation, but what would be the purpose since gamers have their own worlds to shape and destroy? I rather think that they really want to clamp down on people who want to ask and discuss things related in the real world today related to the reality and validity--and purpose of the ETs being here in their UFOs.

Those in authority who are saying these things, calling something disinformation only because it is condemning their criminal activities as government paid people are supposed to be trustworthy, but seeing people discussing "Them" causes a lot of paranoia, guilt, and so they are compelled to become even more corrupt by defaming law abiding citizens for talking online about them.

The problem I have with all this is they are policing truth out and lies into the narrative. That is very bad for folks who just want life to be about "truth, justice and fairness for all". That seems so cynical to the evil ones I realize. To us normies it seems like we may never see those things again. Hopium is not dried up but the faith in the white hats dwindles as each freedom for all of us is lost forever.

Yes. this is 100% about silencing 'truth speakers' .Those of us awake may wake up other to the reality and depths of government corruption and involvement with the plandemic, 9/11 , terrorist funding, money laundering, bribes , murder etc. The pond runs very deep and the goverment scum is hiding at the bottom from us truthspeakers.

They fear us as we will expose them and their lies and corruption.

Media/TPTB have been censoring us since Edward Murrow's time. Pandering too! an lets not forget a leopard doesn't change it's spots. I take it as a "given" the govt & media doesn't want us to know diddly. It's our job to circumvent this truth embargo.

So, now people who chat about something on gaming sites or in chat rooms are a threat to our country? Hmmm. I thought that expressing your opinion of things going on in the country came under freedom of speach. It is your actions, not what you talk about that is a threat to the country. A direct threat posted against someone, that is different....but it just gets you observed, people say things all the time and do nothing.

Almost everyone I know has at one time said some bad things against another person, but ninety nine percent of them never followed through. Sometimes people just want to vent their frustration and make statements displaying how they feel...but not many people actually do anything.

That does not mean we should ignore someone who is a problem, I have talked people out of their state of mind many times over my lifetime. They calmed down and nothing happened. I do know some people who do not lose their cool and get angry....almost all of those people are good Christians from stricter churches.

I am not one of those good Christians, I do get angry sometimes, but I am good at controlling myself. But when I go out deer hunting...if I see a buck....I check well for others around and then shoot the deer...my gun holds seven bullets, one for every face I put on the deer of people who have really pissed me off since I shot my last deer. Boy does that feel good to take out my frustration on the deer. I do seem to lose maybe ten to fifteen pounds of venesin, but that is the best therapy I have ever experienced. I am so relaxed for many months afterwards.

I have felt this as well when finishing off our produce.
I sometimes have to dissociate myself from the kill
as I spent so much time and effort to raise an animal to fruition.
One sometimes gets attached to a cow, pig or even a chicken
and I have reservations, my family needs to eat.
As for my spirituality. I am a Christian, but a good Christian is up for debate.

You don't have to be gaming to use a chat service like Discord, the Phantom Zone channel used by ATS refugees is mostly about "taboo topics" like you find here (of course). As for other uses, I can contact several people I know who are into gaming through Discord if I need to get their attention, but you can find or get invited to any number of non-game topics on these services.

A lot of countries seem to be bringing in these new laws at exactly the same time and Canada is proposing a law to jail you for life for posting anything that it does not agree with online .

My father, who rarely went to church, was more Christian like than most of the people who went to church every day. He hunted and fished and the next statement I make is what he roughly told me over and over.

He said, only kill things you are going to eat or use to make clothes that are needed. Do not waste food, because something dies so we can eat. And always respect the life lost so we can survive.

Now we did raise chickens on our farm...unless they were sick, we ate them. I learned to really like the taste of soup made from the old laying hens. We hunted deer, rabbit, and partridge and prairy chickens. Even squirrels made good stew. We did have a few beef cattle we raised, but us kids had become friends of the cows and we did not really like the meat. He told us he traded polly and buttercup for other cows, but even at five and seven years old my sister and I knew that was not true. We did not eat much beef that winter. My dad sucked at telling lies.

I remember my dad shot two woodchucks one spring. Talk about smelling up the house cooking those woodchucks. My mother and sister left to town while they were cooking. We both ate boiled woodchuck...wilder than hell taste. After eating about maybe a quarter pound of meat, he must have seen the expression on my face, I could see he did not appreciate the torture. He told me that the meat was too strong, so we threw it out and opened all the windows and doors to air out the house so my mother and sister would not complain so much. He said if he knew it was going to taste that bad he would never have shot them.

I try not to waste much, I will eat what I take and even chew on my wife's steak bones....because I truely believe that life should not be wasted. When we eat plants, it is also true, a life is taken for us to eat a salad or even a loaf of bread. We should appreciate the life lost. I thank the animal or plant that died myself, It is not god I thank for food. Maybe god created life, but I did not take gods life, I took the plant or animals life. An egg is a future chicken too, grain is the seed of a future plant. and even cheese...made from milk and fermented by microbes, those microbes are killed so we may live.

I originally thought about this and took on this attitude over sixty years ago. I dislike when people will pick apart a steak or eat half a burger in a restaurant, they are not appreciating the life that was lost. A cook can screw up food, which means that the cook needs to learn to do it right if the waste was their fault, but most people are too picky, if the food is not exactly like they like it they just toss it.

I have no problem taking the life of an animal, but I sure the hell am not going to waste that life if I do. If an animal is damaging your property or a threat to your safety, I will also kill it if needed. I feel bad when there is a dead deer on the road, if I hit one, I would take it home and process it. But who knows how long a deer was on the side of the road or how hard it was hit. The County and DNR used to pick up dead deer and haul them to the humane society for food for the animals, but now they are not allowed to do that anymore.

Well, we can see how Belgium handles Discord groups, post a meme 7 years ago, and end up in prison with fines and restricted rights once you get out. I'm not sure if this is a private chat group or what, but obviously you have to self-censor now when making public statements, or sharing memes. Sure this is a foreign country, but we are headed right down this same path, please be careful going forward.
