A man who lived in an iron lung for 70 years after contracting polio as a child has died. Paul Alexander, known as Polio Paul, was left paralyzed after suffering from polio in 1952 when he was six years old.

He spent his whole life inside the iron lung. He had come home from playing outdoors when he felt feverish and had a headache. Within days he had been rushed to hospital and doctors operated to clear mucus from his lungs.

He woke up in the mechanical iron lung - and spent most of his life inside it.

Rest in peace mate.

By the looks of things, and despite his condition, he seems to have made the most of life.

I can't even imagine.

I tell people almost daily, if someone didn't tell you that you have brain cancer today, you're doing better than those who were.

People complain so much about so many things these days, they really don't know how lucky they are. What seems like a tough and difficult life to you, would have been this man's dream.

Keep your perspective folks. It really does affect every aspect of your lives.
